Arthur Phillips III, 32, and Brittany M. Lurch, 22, had their wedding reception set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, but at 2:30 p.m., they were caught putting food items valued at about $1,000 in their shopping cart, and walking out to their car without paying. The couple didn’t make it to the reception.

Going to the grocery,
Going to steal food for the wedding.
Going to get arrested,
Spend our honeymoon in the slammer.
That's cheaper than Jack Benny.

Way cheaper than Jack Benny.
Well, at least their guests know how little the happy couple think of them.

Tough economic times call for desparate measures. Unfortunately, getting arrested and charged with a crime will cost this couple more than the value of the food they stole.
If I ever become a thief, I'm going to go after high-dollar items--at least make it worth my while...an airplane or military vehicle.

A staple of local folklore is the bride-to-be who steals cookies from the cookie table at her friend's wedding reception, then serves them at her own reception.

Oldewave,
On this day of staring the patch (and quitting smoking), thank you very much for the VERY FUNNY response.
I needed that.

The bride's last name is Lurch. After looking at her mugshot, I can kind of see a resemblance between her and the butler on "The Addams Family".
