An unemployed 58-year-old man wrote that, then set fire to the home he shared with his girlfriend, and drove her Cadillac to the top of Florida's Sunshine Skyway, and jumped to his death. His brother says: "He was being evicted, basically. Maybe this was the final straw before he had nothing left." (TampaBay.com)
Wouldn't it be cool to actually choose whom to haunt and be able to pick them out (and follow through!) ahead of time......
Somehow, methinks he's going to be disappointed.

It would be cool. The problem would be in only being able to choose one. I think the better life you lead, the more people you should be allowed to haunt after you die.

When I die, I want to be like the Flying Dutchman on Spongebob Squarepants.
WHO DARES DISTURB THE FLYING DUTCHMAN?!!

That's such a dick move - setting his girlfriend's home on fire and threatening to haunt her. If you want to off yourself, go ahead. But why do these people feel the need to cause collateral damage along the way?

I guess this is Tampa's version of the Golden Gate.

There has to be a song in there somewhere. I'm thinking of "Jump, Jump, Jump" by Rick Derringer.

Because, He Who Shall Not Be Named......
If they were brave enough to do that, they wouldn't be committing suicide in the first place. They would find a less cowardly way to deal with whatever is bothering them.
The real victims of suicide are ALWAYS the survivors, even if their house isn't burned down and they don't get haunted. They are always implicitly "haunted" by the lifelong wondering of the guilt of whether they were somehow responsible for the suicide (they NEVER are) or if they could have recognized warning signs and prevented it.

Clarification: By survivors, I meant those friends and relatives left behind after a suicide occurs, not a survivor of a suicide attempt.

What a selfish son of a __________ you fill in the blank. It sounds like he was lucky anyone wanted to be with him, since it was all about him. How did he think she felt to also lose her job?? He was unemployed, and she didn't do anything crazy like that and blame him.

"He'd awake around noon and spend all day on the computer."
I wonder what his screen name was here at OS&RR... Should we do a roll call?

LOL@ Somebody
When I die, I am going to haunt all of you on here. You have been warned. Should happen in about 10 days, according to some church-nuts. I'll let you know, either way.

"What day?" "The 21st." "Call you on the 22nd."

Won't work on me, I'm Pagan, and have cast a protection spell.
