Dear readers: After 13 years, I'm closing The Obscure Store
This is in Bill Clinton's general area--if he still had his former eating habits, they could have sold their entire inventory at once before this idiot town board member ruined their business model.

When cupcakes are outlawed, only outlaws will have cupcakes. Not to mention Gatorade. And rice krispy treats.

How about a jalapena flavored banana for that town councilpunk.
And, yes, I DO mean up his ass.

Judging by his chubby cheeked grin, the councilman was probably just pissed that they didn't offer him a cupcake bribe.

Sterilize him.

After the jalapeno gets stuffed up his hershey highway, Am Vet can drop trou, and show him his tattoo.

this reminds me of my town im a 15 year-old kid and all the authorities do is follow me and my friends around and yell at us for skateboarding or sitting in the public park i think that people just need to get a life and actually work instead of going around and harassing kids

Bah-Humbug!

this was because the were not contributing to the new health care law as a small business....nothing more. but get used to it your next.

@Bernie
I'm with you. That guy looks like a complete douche.
Those kids will get him back when they are a little older.

Oh yes, we must have laws protecting our way of life in our lovely affluent suburb, otherwise, god knows, there could actually be some hispanics who aren't working in our yards selling cold water in the park.
But DON'T YOU DARE apply those laws to our precious snowflakes. OMG, they were so terrified and they had their Bar Mitzvahs and everything.

my objection is that they were selling things in a park. if it was at the end of their driveway then i could see no harm, no foul.

Fatty councilman is a SNITCH!! He's just lucky he was a jerkwad to some good kids--mess with the wrong ones he'll wind up shot.
Posted by: twerp | Monday, November 15, 2010 at 01:05 PM
I wouldn't want their crap in my park either, week after week. Park space is at a premium in these parts. If they were junking up their own driveway or whatever, then go to town.
I wouldn't call the police though -- I would just wait for them to get bored of it. It beats having four more skater punks by a long shot.
Posted by: Sigh | Monday, November 15, 2010 at 01:51 PM
Some of you are total f*cks. Can't have kids selling lemonade on the curb anymore. Might be spiked with PCP...
Just more zero tolerance BS.
My boot up the councilman's arse.
And, @ Sigh, what's wrong with skateboarding? Are you some sort of Ralph Nader, tit sucking, "mommy protect me from myself" imbecile? Or old, like me, and are irritated at young folk having the fun that we did at that age? (Or more?) Old punk!

I KNOW that if these kids sparked 5 or 6 competitors, this would be a different story.
Instead of two Jewish Princesses bitching because their darlings got put out of business by the local "Code-Nazi" councilman, you'd have a townful of irate citizen bitchin' about the park going to hell and stupid, RUDE children ruining their enjoyment of it.
Get REAL, folks. If the Little Bar-Mitzvah candidates aren't ready to comply with the Rules and Regulations of park use and Business practices, let 'em go back to selling Door-to-door.
Seriously? What potentially enterprizing guy with a few kids to feed and No Job, wouldn't LOVE to have the Rules bent the way the JAPS want for their little darlings.
SCREW That!!! Not on MY watch. I'd sooner eat Brocolli and throw up on the PM...oops, my secret Geo. Bush is "outing".
I hate the brats getting in my way at the grocery store...and I'm an Eagle Scout, but SOMEWHERE in the past 38 years there has been a "lowering of the bar" for this Charity sales crap. We NEVER did this when I was a Cub Scout...we'd ring your doorbell, at Dinnertime.

This is what happens when you allow government even local government too much power.

I don't know. I can see two sides to this.
What I find most disturbing is that the PO said that the Councilman made the complaint. That suggests rather strongly to me that when guy called the police, he made sure to throw his rank around, instead of calling in quietly as just another concerned citizen. In my opinion, that is abuse of power/office and totally wrong!
On another topic, I thought bar mitzvahs were to mark your ascension into the rank of adult within your socio-religious community. Hiding behind your mommy and letting her do the talking, although understandable, seems like a bit of a disconnect.

@911 - what's that? You get people posting nonsense repeatedly? Naa, we had that before big government.
