Man faces jail time for his unusual "tribute" to dead golfers
The 57-year-old man tossed up to 3,000 golf balls into the biggest sand trap he could find — Joshua Tree National Park. "There were also some tennis balls involved," says a park spokesman. (Los Angeles Times)
At least he had the balls to do it.

Steal golf balls and dump them in the desert? Yup, that's a good way to honor dead golf stars. Sounds like our friend's a few irons short of a bag.

I hope this doofus will be required to pay for all of the costs associated with clean-up by National Park employees of the golf balls, food scraps, and any other crap he littered the park with.

Aren't golf balls expensive? Couldn't he have resold the golf balls to pay for a better 'tribute?'

Is this guy an outsider artist, or just completely insane? Homer Simpson had better ideas than this guy.

Seemingly innocuous people can be completely crazy underneath.

He's 57 and still lives at home with his dad...I'm thinkin' throwing some stuff around is probably a "best case senario" here. Better than shooting from a watertower........I'm just sayin!

I love that park. And with all the traffic it gets, most people take seriously the idea that you have to take everything your bring out with you.
That was the site of my first following by a coyote, first rock climbing, first visible meteor shower, and first realization that the Dr. Seuss trees are real.

lol @ Displaced.
I thought the same thing the first time I saw the Joshua's outside of Phoenix. Those are some funky, Seuss-looking trees!

RMM, I think he spent some of his childhood in or near that park. I didn't find out until after I saw the trees.
