Official steals $1.38 million from school, has fun at strip clubs

The former executive director of a school for American Indian children is accused of spending the $1 million-plus he allegedly stole on cars, houses and nights at strip clubs. "This is just about as bad as it gets," says the sheriff. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

However, the school's board does bear some responsibility. They didn't verify that Pourier actually had the academic degrees he claimed, for starters. And they were asleep at the switch in about reviewing checks and keeping close track of expenditures.

It *was* the school board's job to verify and monitor this guy's activities.

It was also the job of the Board of Directors of the too-numerous-to-be-named-bailed-out-banks to Watch What The Heck Was Going On. They didn't, the school board didn't, and the people least able to defend themselves got screwed.
