Wow, I didn't know that was an inherited trait.

Can't do that LGL, that would make the authori-tays look bad. We are in a supposedly enlightened era of blind justice for all (!snort!). Although I agree with you, the best prescription- and cure- in this case would be some good ol' fashioned mob justice. Pass me a pitchfork!

Yeah, and it's hands down Wisconsin in the WTF?! contest today. Short of a story about someone using Alligators to serially rape small children, I think Florida may as well take the day off...

Is Wisconsin the Arkansas of the North...........?
Posted by: goldenboy | Tuesday, June 02, 2009 at 07:46 AM
I think it's time to declare Wisconsin the "winner" or weiner.

"Is Wisconsin the Arkansas of the North...........?"
Now come on, Arkansas ain't all that bad. Tell 'im about it sis then let's go to the bedroom. Just kidding.
I'm an Arkansawyer (anyone that calls themselves an Arkansan is a carpetbagger and always will be). And this kind of stuff isn't limited to state borders. And I've heard of things out in California that if they happened in Arkansas the whole state would give a collective WTF?

SIL;
Would that be the Florida story wherin the alligators were using watermelons as bait?
and,,,,would we need to resort to mob rule if Lady Justice removed her blindfold?

Forget the apple not falling far from the tree; we've got a whole freaking orchard here.
Farmer Bob and jakejake have their work cut out for them with this clan, that's for sure.

holy moly--send this family to live in the wilds of alaska--with only a gun & one tent...
the couple with the son...makes you wonder if this young man was molested as a child and in turn became a predator as well.

Yes it is 'inherent'. It has been found long ago that people that have been sexually abused as children are apt to become abusers also - and further, they are attracted to people that have been abused.
Posted by: openeyed | Tuesday, June 02, 2009 at 10:23 AM
It's all relative in Wisconsin.
Posted by: Torgo | Tuesday, June 02, 2009 at 10:52 AM
Openeyed - your comment regarding their attraction for fellow abusees is enlightening. I have often wondered how (in cases like this) they find a women to go along with it.

Why would you leave your 6 year old with a family that already had a history like that?
I don't know about the rest of you, but ONE charge would be more than enough of a red flag for me.

Do they ever serve any time in jail? And why are some sexual assault crimes only misdemeanors and not felonies?
Posted by: Sheila | Tuesday, June 02, 2009 at 11:39 AM
Sheila:
Crimimal codes differ from state to state. Not so much on what they prohibit, but on how different crimes are named and classified. "Sexual Assault Crimes" has no legally uniform meaning from state to state. In fact, the legal definition of rape varies from to state to state (not, these days by a helluva lot, but it does differ).
Furthermore, you may find, see Indiana for example, that rape used to be (and probably still is) classed as a "Crime Against Families" which covers many crimes of differing severities. That doesn't mean the penalty for rape is less severe.
Even if your state has a class of crimes called "sexual crimes" you'll find that a whole bunch of criminal activity is covered by those statutes--some of it merely obnoxious (distributing pornography to a minor) and some quite serious (rape).
Posted by: nellagain | Tuesday, June 02, 2009 at 12:09 PM
"Sexual assault" can mean different things in different states, but distributing pornography to a minor is not exactly what assault usually means. An act that would constitute "sexual assault" should be a felony, unless the legislators writing the law did not use specific enough wording. I know "sexual crimes" has subcategories, and I know laws vary from state to state. In my state, "gross sexual imposition" refers to an act that might not involve penetration, but does involve some other type of sexual assault.

Sounds like they were all abused. I would be investigating thier parents next. Or was one of them the father? I lost track in that list of names.
