Woman finds a downside to living in her $1M Trump condo
It's the 24-hour lights from a building across the street. She now feels like she's living in the "Seinfeld" episode when Kramer was tortured by a Kenny Rogers Roasters sign.

Can a woman be a douche bag, or is that just a term for dudes?

Try Before You Buy. It is always a good idea to spend the night in a condo you plan to buy, so that you can find out what goes on that might keep you from your sleep: thin walls, noisy plumbing, love beasts, noisy trains, and, now, bright lights.

This is like the luxury homes in Camas, WA built upwind from the paper mill; the HOA sued the mill to try to get them to move even though it had been there since the 60's and the homes were brand-new. IDIOTS!

The condo was likely purchased long before the building went up. She's doing pretty well, by the way, if she can spend $1M for a one bedroom condo.
If she has money left, she might buy blinds. The IBM-ers might be disappointed if she starts closing them before dressing, of course.

I'm with you, lambie. One of the reasons that I spend the extra few bucks to stay at a Marriott when I'm traveling on business is their system of heavy double curtains that really do make it pitch-black in the room once they're drawn. This is a silly, insignificant problem that could be easily remedied. (Sunglasses for guests? Look at the photo again and tell me about the dazzling light inside the condo.) I'm sure the OTHER dozens of condo owners in this building have fixed things by now.
The REAL question here is: WHY IS THIS NEWS?
Posted by: msgelter | Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 10:13 AM
This is "news" because she has a friend who works for the paper.
Posted by: MidtownCoog | Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 10:15 AM
I agree with MsGelter - why on earth is this news?
I've lived in many apartments, some of which had flood lights outside for the parking lot. I never worried about it. Just shut the blinds and went to sleep.
To be honest, I see several possible things she's trying to do:
1. Get out of a condo she can't afford.
2. Get money from the trump organization or the law firm
3. Discredit the law firm and owners of the 330 N. Wabash building on Earth day.
4. Get 5 minutes of fame and therefore publicity for her dumb magazine.

Below the photo:
Lights from 24-hour offices at 330 N. Wabash blaze behind Katie Tarbox in her Trump tower condo every night.
I know you can do alot to a picture, but does that look like blazing to you? It looks pretty dark to me.

I gotta agree with lambie and gelter, she needs to take a little cash and spend it on curtains, nice, heavy-duty curtains with a "black-out" liner and voila, problem solved.
No point in putting it in the paper.

Ohgod. I got light glare in my "2-Buck" Condo. I give a cupped handful of piss for this woman's "problem." Here's a (free) clue- don't want light pollution, move to the sticks.

Let me see if I got this right: in order to do their work, people leave their lights on at night in Chicago. Oh noes! And they built their condos long after the IBM building.
You want to see scary? Turn off all of the lights downtown in Chicago for a few evenings.

I work for a railroad and go to a yard called Global 1 in Chicago. Not a huge yard or anything, but there was a large warehouse they converted to Condo's there for some reason. And sold apparently all of them.
Well, now the residents of the condo's are having a problem with the constant noise of the locomotives, and diesel fumes.
You'd have thought they would have considered the location a little better before they moved basically right into a railroad switching area.
There is no predicting how ignorant some people are.

It's like people who buy houses near airports (and even under the landing pattern) compllaining about the noise. Helllooo...
Idiots.

They're called "window shades" or "curtains". Ask an interior decorator.
Actually, I'd be thinking cool, I don't have to burn my own lights after dark.

I worked graveyard shift at various hotels for EIGHTEEN years. I learned early on the value of BLACKOUT CURTAINS! Even when I had to make them myself. I STILL use them even though I work days now - the room is in near blackness even on the brightest of days and it also keeps the room cooler so down goes the electric bill.
Have no sympathy for somebody who can afford that kind of digs and is too stupid to buy curtains. Guess she just likes to whine.

I'd GLADLY trade homes with here. Put up Kramer's sign outside the condo, I do not care.
