Derek Lindsay, 34, and his child were at the restaurant, where Ronald McDonald and Shrek clowns were making balloon animals and entertaining a large group of kids. A verbal outburst started at the playground area, where another man overheard Lindsay telling his child to push other kids out of the way. The kid followed dad's instructions and a fight ensued. (Taunton Gazette | Lindsay mug shot)
"""After Lindsay was placed under arrest and brought to the police station, officers discovered he had an extensive criminal record, including 128 adult arraignments, 10 prior disorderly conduct charges and 40 arraignments on assault and battery charges"""

Just 1 more reason, on a list of many, not to eat at macdonalds
Posted by: phantom | Monday, May 28, 2007 at 10:11 AM
Phantom how do you know macdonalds don't have good food. I know McDonalds is shitty but macdonalds might be decent.

Janitor, FBI agent, Crazydad---all with no ability to use forethought, as in, "If I engage in this behavior, what could possibly happen as a result of it?" Amazing how the idiots always manage to screw up. Then again, perhaps not so amazing because they haven't enough brains to avoid screwing up.

They prove to be their own walking billboards for stupidity. It says: "I'm a pervert, bully, numbskull, idiot, pedophile, snake. Arrest me." (sorry, didn't mean to drag the snake into it.)

And they released him to let him walk around some more?
Posted by: | Monday, May 28, 2007 at 01:30 PM
Incidently, with all those priors, why was he ROR? I would have thought, even with the relatively minor offenses, he would be remanded, just because he's a hot-headed jerk!
Posted by: Upperclass Becky | Monday, May 28, 2007 at 01:32 PM
A 'hot-headed jerk' who, apparently, is raising one to follow in his footsteps. That alone should have the Judge keeping this man off the streets and the child in counseling now rather than later.

I've said it once, I'll say it again:
You have to test to leave high school, you have to test to get into the military, you have to test to get a driver's license, but any idiot can make a baby.
PS-- what is "ROR"?
Posted by: Soo | Monday, May 28, 2007 at 05:12 PM
ROR=Released on own recognizance.

Thanks RF. I haven't been able to spell worth diddly lately. Who knows what I might have done with that one!8)
Soo, I'd be all for pre-sex parenting classes, but you just can't get those 12-year-olds to cooperate!
He had how many charges of assault? Any man who has that many charges against him (whether found guilty of all or not) should not be allowed around children. I'm sorry. That just can't set a good example.
Posted by: Upperclass Becky | Monday, May 28, 2007 at 05:50 PM
He had 40 assault and battery charges. How the hell do you have 40 assault and battery charges and you are still walking the streets and able to be in control of a minor? Was he found not guilty? Were charges dropped? Is Mass. insane? Tune in tomorrow, folks, for another episode of screwed up justice, brought to you by Jim Romenesko & Overwound Mindspring

Because locking up meth and coke dealers is a higher priority.
Also consider that Massachusetts was also the state, years back, that got noticed for their "furlough" program which would let inmates take vacations away from prison unsupervised. This wasn't news to the state of Mass., but did become a national issue when Dukakis decided to run against Bush the Elder in 1988 and the rest of us found out about it.

Hey Asshole guy, Its been so long since I ate at MaDonalds I dont even know how to spell it. Thanks for pointing out my illiteracy.

Like The Asshole Guy said...
'After Lindsay was placed under arrest and brought to the police station, officers discovered he had an extensive criminal record, including 128 adult arraignments, 10 prior disorderly conduct charges and 40 arraignments on assault and battery charges.'
And guess what...at one time, Lindsay was a "good kid"
Happy Memorial Day. The day we celebrate those that have sacrificed for their country so the rest of us can enjoy these continuing stories of American idiocy courtesy of Obscure Store.

Father Knows How to be an Asshole!

I'm often reminded that this is the Home of the free, and the land of the Bizare!
I hope that everyone had a nice Memorial Day, and that between bites of fried chicken, BBQ ribs, brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, pork chops, steaks, potato salad, bean salad, tossed salad, seven-layer salad, baked beans, green beans, blackeyed peas, purple hull peas, crowder peas, corn on the cob, off the cob, and frozen, beer, wine, lemonade, Koolaid, iced tea, soda, ice cream, cake, pie, watermelon, coffee, and another round of the above for supper, we remembered what this day is about. I spent it reflecting. I visited a site at MSN.Groups on the Civil War. It was very interesting, and i'll be discussing that with Soo and DT, and maybe later everyone.
I did find a couple of things of interest, perhaps only to Soo and I, but I thought I'd share it anyway: "Located in Selma's Live Oak [Cemetery] the grave of Captain Catesby Jones, who commanded the ironclad CSS Virginia in the battle of Hampton Roads, against the Union Ironclad USS Monitor. He was later commander of the Selma Arsenal from 1863 until the city was burned by Wilson's Cavalry in 1865." The meaning of this is, even though she is a confessed Yankee and I'm a confessed Rebel, we have a link, now. Of all places to meet. I've never even been to VA, but my brother-in-law's wife is stationed at Virginia Beach. And, Soo informed us, she will eventually be living in Alabama. New assignment, Soo! Go look up his grave. Can't miss it. It's festooned with a Confederate Iron Cross!
Second piece of information: The Confederates treated Union soldiers pretty much the way they, themselves had been treated in death, except, they tried to mark their graves. Also, Commander Jones' grave was festooned with two small flags. A US flag and a Confederate Flag. How about that!
If I were wealthy, i think I'd go on an expedition to find and photograph every Civil War Cemetary in the Country (both sides!).

One more reason to advocate licenses for procreation!
This guy should not be spawning.

And people wonder why children are so awful. I weep for the future.
Posted by: pnwgal | Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 08:59 AM
so exactly how do you propose to license parenting--There was a program (late 1800's) originally intended to prevent male masturbation of piercing the foreskin in two places and running a wire through it--they even put a little offcial metal stamp on the closure so that it couldn't be tampered with.
Guys, you willing to ah..put up or shut up?
Gals, let's forcibly administer the pill to every female (fertile or not, too hard to tell these days and in case there is a birth control failure...well, you know the rest of the song.
If you want permits for kids, come up with something pragmatic, cheap, and effective

Hate to say this about a kid, but maybe someday soon dads advice will result in this kid getting the snot beat out of him....possibly knocking something loose in his brain that lets him know his father is a @#$%#$ POS loser. is that wrong?

I'm not advocating forced "sterilization." I'm just pointing out the irony of life, that's all.
Argument/debate #1: Parenting classes should be mandatory, but then you have to wonder who's going to run them. Fundies? Hippies? Athiests? Freaks? In walks argument/debate number 2.
Argument/debate #3: who's gonna pay for it?
Unanswerable questions all around. But here's what I do know:
I've been in a program teaching me how to teach children. Learning from experts how a child's brain develops, how the behavior of adults can positively and negatively impact the child's behavior, how adult interaction (either positive or negative) is necessary for development, the one thing I learned above all is that biology does not make one a parent, merely a procreator.
People with anger management issues can be "retrained;" it worked for me, even in my moody teens. People with priority issues can also be retrained, although from experience it's harder to teach someone selflessness than it is to teach them how to stay calm under pressure. The key is to identify these people early, before they have the chance to screw up their kids.
But then we get back to #2, who's gonna teach this, which leads once again to #3, who's gonna pay for it.
How to fix bad parents: it's the song that never ends.

quick change of subject:
UCB: Selma's down near Montgomery, I'll be up near Talledega racetrack. I may take the kids down there this summer for a history lesson. Mister went 2 years ago when he was in Montgomery for a training exercise, but he was doing the Civil Rights tour.
Back to your regularly scheduled /whatever/.
