Florida condo association to do DNA tests on dog poop

Dog owners must pay a $200 fee to have DNA Pet World Registry take the dog's genetic fingerprint. Doggie droppings found in condo common areas will be collected and mailed to the company. If the poop matches the pooch, the owners can be fined up to $1,000. "This is nuts," says one tenant. They will be testing all kinds of poop. Is this America?" (Palm Beach Post)

I wish they would do that where I live.

I know that the overwhelming majority of dog owners have their pets poop in the various permitted areas on the property but there is frequently poop and the telltale brown spots where poop or urine was in an otherwise lush green lawn.

I only once said something to a guy who was allowing his dog to poop on a lawn right in front of a "no pets allowed here" sign. The guy didn't even acknowledge that I was standing there talking to him; he just stood there staring over my right shoulder. That was weird. If I had a phone camera then, I would have whipped it out.

We have 4 or 5 grassy areas identified as pets allowed and 2 or 3 w/ flower beds and trees where they are not.
