Burglar killed fish because "he didn't want to leave any witnesses"
Goldfish have a reputation for being snitches, of course. A cop says the 16-year-old suspect looked at the fish tank and said "We can’t leave any witnesses." He then killed the fish. (Suburban Chicago Daily Herald)
Perhaps the kid has seen "Finding Nemo" too many times.

He also killed the bird so it wouldn't sing and the pig so it wouldn't squeal.

To me it shows an utter lack of humanity. Not a huge fish fan, but isn't killing someones sense of security enough?? We need Farmer Bob!

Cruelty to animals? Really? They're FISH!! They have a memory span of 2 seconds. Those are some trumped-up charges if you ask me.
Was it mean of the guy to kill them? Yes, but I'd charge them with destruction of property rather than cruelty to animals though.

Pointless cruelty by someone indicates severe personality disorder issues. He'll be a more serious menace in the future.

....actually, twerp, they have memory spans longer than 2 seconds. We used to train ours (my family had a zoo, besides just the parrots) to eat out of our hands. Then it was proven on Mythbusters that goldfish can remember how to navigate mazes, even days between running it.
Thought that episode was interesting, even though it "proved" what I already knew. And it's still cruelty to animals. :(

True story: The entire time I was in labor with my son, I was watching a Mythbusters marathon. It was the only thing that would take my mind off the pain.

That was WITH an epidural. The epidural only worked on one side of my body. It was very strange.
