Yes it does. It also distracts you. When you are not focusing on the pain it is moderated. Alot of people don't realize that the added "high" is a moderation of the pain by disassociation. Of course there are those that would begrudge users because of antiquated views and supposition that the intent is to get high instead of the high being a welcome side effect to the reduction of the cronic pain.
