Man sues over parking ticket, says it disclosed too much info
His gripe is that the ticket remained on his car windshield for five hours, and thus disclosed to the public his name, address, date of birth, driver's license number, sex, height and weight. (Suburban Chicago Daily Herald)
Easy solution: Don't leave your car in a spot that might get ticketed for over 5 hours!

Must be a new way to get your parking tickets thrown out.
Also, there are plenty of easier ways to find someone's address and vital statistics than peeking under a parking ticket.

It's typical that the cops don't know the laws they are supposed to enforce.

That is too much information for a parking ticket. If people know that all parking tickets in the area contain nearly complete ID information, someone will use them for criminal purposes. What's wrong with the plate number and VIN only?

In our area, parking tickets are attributed to the car, not the driver. (as you can't say for sure that the driver was the one who parked it there).
The officers have to look up the vehicle owner information for us to send a warning letter to, but they tend to do that at the end of their shift, or they'd have to go back to their squad car to look up the info for each ticket. It's actually *more* work for them to leave this much info on a car's windshield.
If it's a moving violation, they'll ask for your license, and copy it down, but then they hand the ticket straight back to you.

I hope he wins.

Hmmm, would they list the measurements if it was a woman?

Am Vet...Would they list the measurements if it was a minority, handicapped, midget, lesbian, alien, that didn't speak English ?
The average picnic table is 30 inches high, 3 feet wide, and 6 feet long, and it usually parks anywhere in the back yard, on the deck, or the patio.

the only thing missing from that ticket is the guy's social security number

His DOB is in his IL Drivers License # already, its just obscured from folks who don't know how to calculate it.
But, other than getting the parking ticket form re-worked he should not get anything else.

About 10 years ago a friend of mine, fresh out of law school, got a parking ticket. She kept looking at it and knew something was wrong. When she figured out that the ticket, basically a summons, was made out to the vehicle. She pointed out to the City of Buffalo that a summons could not be issued to an object. They ignored her. She went to them numerous times offering a deal if they would just fix it and expunge her tickets. They refused. She then put together a class action suit, ended up in state supreme court and won (my couple of tickets were included). The City of Buffalo now has parking tickets that say "to the owner of the vehicle ABC-123 (plate number).

Maybe I haven't had a parking ticket in a while, but I just thought it was make, model and licence plate number.

He'll win.
Although I don't know why this guys cares about his height and weight so much. Insecurity issues?

Actually releasing the DL# is probably the most offensive of the infractions here. It is also worth noting that individually this information wouldn't be so bad to have released and probably wouldn't cause a stir but in combination it can be a perfect storm to lead to ID Theft.
Also lets consider a worst case scenario:
-Parking ticket contains Address
-Man/Woman who gets ticket is spotted by a dangerous individual who perhaps has a restraining order for previous violence against said man/woman.
-Stalker is now armed with information on the person's place of residence
