They guy who is being sued bought a clock for $44 and said it arrived in three pieces that didn't fit together or even seem to be the same model. On the profile of emiller1313, he wrote: "Bad seller; he has the ethics of a used car salesman." emiller1313 is an attorney and went after his clock-buyer.

"time clock" Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, that'll work. Great use of time and effort.

I would think that the only lesson to be learned here is to NEVER EVER buy anything whatever from a lawyer.
emiller1313 is probably planning to go after anyone who *didn't* leave him a review on the grounds that lack of good review discredited him. The he'll take on folks that didn't buy things from him.

A time clock is what employees use to punch in and punch out. It's not a redundant term.
If the guy was just selling a regular clock, though, it's not only redundant, it's wrong. And dumb.

He got his money back so he wasn't harmed in any way.
He could have posted "clock arrived broken" or "clock arrived in several pieces which didn't fit together" or any number of things to indicate that the clock didn't arrive in working order. He also could have indicated in his post that he had gotten his money back.
Instead, he went on the offensive and stated a fact which was unproven, that the seller had the ethics of a used car salesman.
I don't have a lot of sympathy. I'm surprised he isn't also being sued by the used car salespersons trade group. (although now that this has been made public, he might be)

How much would he have had to spend, had he said the seller had the ethics of a lawyer?

@kestrelmas;
Route 60 Hyundai sucks!

lol...It's not like he said the seller had the ethics of a used car salesman from Route 60 Hyundai!

Next he'll be sued by used car salesmen across the country for comparing them to a lawyer.

Route 60 Hyundai still sucks, and so does the broken clock-selling lawyer.

Sterilization... for the lawyer.

He did not use the ethics of a car salesman, but a lawyer, which is far worse.

Lou----
What does "ethics of a used car salesman mean"? I know the colloquial meaning, but lets examine this from a strict legal viewpoint.
Is EVERY car salesman unethical? I don't think so, there has to be an honest one out there somewhere. I bought a used car from a guy who was honest with me. Perhaps that's the salesman that the defendant was talking about.
now if he said "This guy has the ethics of a car salesman at route 60 Hyundai" that would be a different story. Because, from what I hear on the street, they suck.

The interesting content of the comments on OSR&R seems to be in decline. I'm not terribly interested in following the antics of unending in-jokes through post after post. But maybe it's just me.

Hey Nitro, if you run a Google Search on Route 60 Hyundai, we're still third from the top. :) And evidently someone left a comment on that thread on April 9th so, it's still active! :)

I think I also have to defend car salesmen here. It's not fair to brand them as unethical while there are countless ethical salesmen out there, especially here in Indianapolis, who do their job right. In fact, I bought my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer at a very fair price from an honest dealer. Let's just be careful with sweeping statements next time, okay?
