"He smelled like alcohol, so I knew it wasn't the real Santa because Santa doesn't drink alcohol," says 9-year-old Katie Dockerty. The 55-year-old Santa was yelling at kids, "Have you seen my reindeer? If you see my reindeer, call me right away."

"..nobody wants to see an intoxicated Santa Claus." Actually, Santa could be quite entertaining in that state. Stay off my roof, though.

What does a modern Santa drink to excess??
Santas from my youth all chugged Muscatel.

Sheila, this story brings to mind one of my favorite movies, "Bad Santa" starring Billy Bob Thornton. Some people hated the film, but I thought it was hilarious.

Miracle on 34th street also starts with a plastered Santa Claus. Gotta love that Christmas Cheer!

Santa Claus does indeed drink. But he's not a drunk.
There is a big difference between the two: Churchill drank, Yeltsin was a drunk.

Bad Santa was one of those movies that made you sick to your stomach, and gave you the urge to shower in very hot water just for having watched it.
Oh sure, I LMAO every time I watch it, I'm just saying..

Really, RMM? Hmm; have to check that out sometime.

Chief, it is a must see.
However, do not eat while watching it, and do NOT watch with your kids (of any age)- LOL! So gross...
At least none of these Santas look as bad by comparison.

I think that Santa being drunk is probably the best reason I can think of for him to be so tolerant and cheerful of strange children on his lap.
Sometimes there are worse motivations than intoxication.

"He smelled like alcohol, so I knew it wasn't the real Santa because Santa doesn't drink alcohol," says 9-year-old Katie Dockerty.
But what happened to the old tradition of leaving a sherry or ale for the old elf on his rounds. I guess the American milk lobby has bought up that part of the "Christmas" cheer!

Why does a 9 year old know how a drunk smells? Mom, Dad, this is your wake-up call...
