Car dealer tells man to delete Facebook, Twitter posts .... or else!
The guy didn't like how he was treated by Route 60 Hyundai’s service department, so he used Twitter and Facebook to complain about the place. Now he's gotten a cease and desist order from the dealership. (TCPalm.com)
He should have posted a bad review on Angie's List. That would have actually lost the dealership some customers.

The dealership must be happy, now they have some free advertising.
Posted by: oaw | Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11:29 AM
Route 66 Hyundai sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks.
The service department sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks.
Everything about the dealership sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks.
Okay, legal department, bring it ON! Where's your Cease and Desist NOW, Moses?

Well, instead of his possible 348 possible Facebook readers and Twit followers, this story in now in front of the entire Treasure Coast and Palm Beach community now has a chance to see it. Good job!
Posted by: johnjohn | Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 12:22 PM
What this story does is bring all their dissatisfied customers together in one place to share their experiences! Way to go! :D Methinks the blood is pouring out of all their feet from shooting themselves in that particular anatomical location.
We all know the old adage. Make one customer happy, and they'll tell 10 friends. Make one customer unhappy, and it goes viral on the internet.
BTW Route 60 Hyundai sucks.
Posted by: kestrelmas | Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 12:33 PM
From reading the comments at the bottom of the original story, it sounds like the dealership is pretty crappy to begin with. It follows perfectly that they would not handle this matter properly either.

Route 60 Hyundai, meet the Streisand effect.

You guys are going to get in big trouble if you say
"ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS!"............... I'm sure
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI knows they SUCK. So when they see
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS on FaceBook, it hurts. I mean who would want to see
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS posted all over the place if you worked there?
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS is a pretty harsh statement.
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS is not something they really want to advertise.
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS is really a matter of opinion.
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS really states an individuals' experience.
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS is freedom of speech, really.
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS is also an incomplete sentence.

I am new to your planet. I need some wheeled contraption to convey myself around your "Earth" sphere. I now know better than to procure such means by visiting Route 60 Hyundai as many Earthlings have related to me that ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS.

I'll chime in:
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS!
They are unAmerican, hate apple pie and want to shove Mom in front of a bus.
They oppose free speech.

@Duck.. You forgot the
"ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS" part of that sentence. You should have said
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS sweaty, greasy donkey balls. Tomorrows' lesson will be
ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS sweaty, greasy donkey balls using proper capitalization.

Did someone actually say

To say ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS may or may not be true.
I have never been there so I don't actually know if ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS.
Could someone please tell me whether it's true that ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI SUCKS?

Car Dealerships generally Suck. Period.
Here in Detroit, it wasn't until the early 90's
that you could find New Car dealers open after 5 PM
on a weekday and a couple more years before they
opened regular Saturday hours. Drive an hour on the freeway, North, South or West and the Dealers were Open and begging for the business, but still without the volume to really compete on price. As the "sprawl" moved outward in the 80's the DADA's power began to diminish. In town, strangely enough, it was the
Japanese Dealers that pioneered each "innovation"
and routinely suffered the backlash of the DADA
"Hit Squads" shooting out lights and damaging vehicles.
It was a widely accepted premise that the State of
Michigan enjoyed artificially inflated sales tax
revenues in the Tri-County area. The dealers kept
the price competition down with limited hours for
shopping in a metro area where the Annual New Car turn-over was routinely exceeded 40%. All those
folks paying inflated prices for New Cars were
lining pockets in the State capitol.
Buy Used cars! They're a far better deal.

Some years ago at a Ford dealership that had a 50 plus year reputation in San Diego county and a family heir still in charge My mother selected a new car that was exactly what she wanted. So I went to purchase it for her and the salesman would not bend oon price or sweeten the already cash deal, because he knew the sale was going through. My fault on that one.
Then during a routine service a service counter man was rude to my my mother and she went home quite upset and told me of crying over the experience. This did not bode well for the counter person as my first impulse was to demonstrate how much I loved my mother while physically applying an object lesson of lifting heavy objects over 38" high counters.
However, a cooler head prevailed and I wrote to the family owner of the dealership explaining the incident as I knew it to have occurred. The amazing thing was the degree of effort they showed at all levels of that dealership to correct the misunderstanding and be certain that my mother was a truly satisfied customer.
The story ends with my mother having more pride in me as a "good son" and she was pleased with her car until the day we sold some five years later.
Route 60 Hyundai if your are listening, "There is a better way to do business and that begins with an ear, and heart. "
Of course they apparently feel that resorting to an attitude and a mouth is a virtue.
Merry Xmas to all of the gang at OS&RR and to all you clever bloggers that make this little visits so enjoyable.
Oh and thanks for letting me tell of my mother. She passed in May and I do so miss her. This is the first Holiday season without my best friend.

Happy Solstice and a Raucous Festivus to all!
...and Louie, my Mom died 29 years ago and the world
has never been quite the same since. A little of life's
magic and twinkle seemed to have gone with her.

Yep, Route 60 Hyundai Sucks, and I think their lawyer swallows too.
BTW, isn't "Hyundai" like Korean slang for "we make you glad to go elsewhere"?
Posted by: BernieB | Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 08:27 PM
@Zimbabalouie - I'm so sorry to hear of your loss... it gets easier, but it doesn't hurt any less. I still really miss my mom, and she's been gone 8 years. ::many hugs::
Holidays are always hard... just try to surround yourself with people you love, and who love you, and you'll get through it. I promise.

If you have an experience somewhere like a car dealership good or bad should you not be allowed to express your opinion? Look at Amazon reviews, what if manufacturers could make Amazon remove bad reviews of products only leaving good ones.
