Wisconsin woman calls 911 to report herself driving drunk
Deputies say Mary Strey, 49, pulled over when the dispatcher asked her to. A deputy had her do field sobriety tests, and she blew a 0.17, nearly twice the legal limit for driving.

Wonder why she got behind the wheel...so she could bust herself? People do the dumbest things.

Must have been one of those "Holy sh*it! I am so totally bombed!" moments.

Oh and once again, it's Wisconsin.

Sounds like the setting for a distraction or the perfect alibi.

I actually did a preliminary investigation on a sailor in a similar situation, recently. He got into the car after a party and quickly realized he shouldn't have (after he started driving, unfortunately). He pulled into a parking lot of a business, which (also unfortunately for him) was being watched by the locals due to recent burglaries. He paid his debt to society and I didn't feel any more punishment was needed by the Navy.

Could be this was an alcoholic's moment of truth. If Ms. Strey blew a .17, she certainly shouldn't have been driving. A lot of "normal" drinkers would be puking, passed out or both at that level.
So maybe she needs help. Maybe she'll get it.

I'd let her go with probation just for being honest about what she'd done.

When I was a child in Wisconsin the legal limit was .15, so this doesn't sound that bad.

Too drunk to think of calling a cab, but not too drunk to bust herself? At least she got off the road when she realized she was out of control.
Maybe she'll lay off the sauce after this, or at least lay off her car keys.

Wow, I'm really torn here. She was either really drunk (did she think the cops would help her?) or she was fairly sober ("Hey, I shouldn't be driving. I'll call someone).

She was a Strey cat.
Hey, Torgo.
When YOU lived in WI, there WERE no cars.lol

Not only was she driving drunk, she was also driving while talking on a cell phone.

Hey Wisconsin! WTF??
Next time, Park and walk...ALWAYS carry comfortable
shoes in your vehicle in case you need to "Hoof it"
for gas...Hopefully there isn't a next time, but
try calling a friend instead. Duh!!!
Cops are NOT your "Friends". They protect the
safety of the Public at large, but are not an
emergency cab service...and often, are no more
than armed tax collectors.
Hopefully the "Just Us Club" will be especially
cognizant of the fact she reported herself to the
authorities. Mayhap they'll even treat her like "One of their Own"...ya think?? Nah!!! Gotta think of
the District court judges' retirement fund.

Katie is right, the woman broke two laws because of that. It's kind of funny how she diligently pulled over after the operator said so; at least she didn't add more to that list.
