After two women gained power of attorney from a dying 83-year-old relative, they took all of her possessions and sold her house of 56 years. Evelyn Roth made an amazing recovery and discovered she'd been wiped out by the relatives. (Oregonian)

As for "Power of Attorney", the law requires an attorney-in-fact to be "completely honest with and loyal to the principal in their dealings with each other." You have the power to act on their behalf and the responsibility to do so in their interest.

I said, "relation to." Just because her name is "Jingling" or anything else NOW doen't mean it's her maiden name--therefore, we don't know if she is or not. I was merely bringing up an example of some asshats I know. Also note, that I used the informal lowercase version of the word, "gypsy" which does not reference to an actual Gypsy group but is used more along the lines of a slang word for people working "independently or without a license" or "under the table" without paying taxes and are generally nomadic...blah, blah, blah.

This is why we need Obama's "death panels." Obviously the woman's POA were just ahead of the curve. At 83 what is she offering society? My guess is that she is on MediCare and sucking my tax dollars in order to have her big recovery. She recovered on my dollar and now what, she is going to live - as twerp points out - potentially another 30 years on my dollar? Screw that.

No Buddy. You have that wrong. They may divide her assets after she dies. Before that, if they need to sell anything it should be to pay the bills for Mrs. Roth. That is why Mrs. Roth has such a strong case.
