The culprit added in his note: "Seriously though, lock your car in the future." It was punctuated with a smiley face sticking out its tongue. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

WOW. It sounds like something that should be in a movie.

Love it!

Tough break on top of everything else the guy has gone through. Lucky the vehicle itself wasn't stolen.

So this blue-collar guy is almost laid off, yet he drives an Escalade which he regularly leaves unlocked? And he leaves his wallet in the unlocked Escalade?

This man is slowly killing the USA.

it prolly would have helped him if the car had been stolen and not recovered. well, unless he left the keys in it. then he would have been screwed b/c the ins comp wouldnt have paid out

You would pay more than $50.00 for a private security company to inspect for weaknesses in your security, so the perp did this guy a favor in the long run (YES, I am being sarcastic). And I'll bet the thief isn't done yet.

Torgo, just because he worked at a tractor plant doesn't mean he's blue collar. Half the people at our plant got laid off last month, about half were professionals.

Seriously, I smell BS in this story. It has all the hallmarks of an urban legend.

Not sure what the motive to make something like this up would be (other than to get attention), but it seriously stinks. Perhaps this is a highly elaborate scheme to get himself noticed for potential employers now that he's out of work.

First, most criminals (i would think) want to get in and out quickly to avoid detection. The prospect of taking the time to write a note out is highly unlikely.

Second, how amazing is it that a pen and paper apparently were very handy for the supposed criminal to write the note?

Third, the note was found atop some BB King CDs? Most punk criminals who steal peoples' stuff take EVERYTHING...

It's an amazing story, but I think it's just that... a story.

Blue collar doesn't necessarily mean low paid.

This is a sad story, he could be a single dad raising his children alone ... and now he's unemployed. With his $20 gone from the bank.

However, even if he is a Blue Collar worker, he could be married.

With that being said, why is everyone assuming that his salary is the highest income in the family.

If he is married, his wife could be a Professional ... Or, maybe she's self employed ... Or, hopefully still employed.

So people in Fargo are comfortable leaving their keys (and wallets) in an unlocked car in their driveway? I thought the only place you could get away with that was Mayberry, RFD. At least the Fargo criminals are nice enough to leave a note, like I'm sure they do in Mayberry also.
