The case of the thug who wielded a meat cleaver at a man who owed him $50,000 was described in court on Wednesday. Christopher Calise allegedly sliced up the victim's ankles and said he would keep going unless the gave him his arm. Calise managed to get a hold of the guy's right arm and nearly severed his hand at the wrist. (Westchester Journal News)July 16, 2009 | Permalink

Boy, this guy needs to learn the rules.
1) When someone owes you money and can't pay, you QUIETLY find them and take them somewhere PRIVATE.
2) Collect the debt in any way you see fit.
3) Clean up your mess.
4) Move on to the next debtor.
Amateurs!

I suppose that this is the modern equavlent of the classic "pound of flesh." You have to know that being in debt to ruthless people is a bad way to live your life.

Navy Chief, I unfortunately do. Never loan money unless you are prepared to collect it.

When someone is caught doing something illegal (e. g., arm chopping-off), he always trots out the bipolar routine. He thinks when he's in court, the judge will say, "Oh, you're bipolar? Oh, well, then, have a nice day. Goodby. Next case!"

Idiots. We are well shut of them both.
If you were going to be foolish to rip a loan shark out of 50G and decide to NOT move to Iowa, wouldn't you be well advised to at least carry a gun?

What that should of done was get some saran wrap, mayonnaise, and cup of bull semen. I don't know what they would do with those things but it would distract them for a while.

I always heard it as: "Don't lend money unless you are willing to give it away." It's why I don't lend money.
