Man to sue T. Boone Pickens over removal of signature slab
David McCart says crews pulled up to the driveway of a home he owns, cut out a slab containing T. Boone Pickens’ signature and drove off. McCart says he bought the home 19 years ago, mainly because of the signature. (Note: Turn down your computer volume; there's a video report, too.) (The Oklahoman)July 14, 2009 | Permalink

What kind of idiot makes home buying decisions based on names written in their concrete driveway? I could see if it was George Washington or Lenny Dykstra even, but seriously, wtf?

Easy case. Once the sale of the property has gone through, anything there belongs to the new owners. If items are connected to the property (windows, trees, bolted-down furnishings) they are part and parcel.
There was even an episode of "Leave It To Beaver" that dealt with this exact issue. The Beav had been given a tree at the old house, and he went and dug it out. That was bad. Bad, bad Beaver.

It's also a little weird that TBP would want that back.
It's all... odd.

That's f'd up. he should sue. i mean, what if this tool wanted the front door to the house because he used to measure himself against it as a kid. does that give him the right to go and take the door down? he should sue, and should win.

such arrogance
whether it belongs to the city or a person - did 'they' notify anyone before or after they removed the signature?

If it was city property, that's called vandalism and theft of city property.

If Pickens wanted the slab that badly, he should have paid the homeowner for it. It's not like he's low on cash. But being an arrogant cheapskate is how he got where he is today.

Whatcha wanna bet somebody's hand got greased at the city?

Of course, you have to prove that TBP actually was involved in taking it, which, unless you have video of him wielding the K-12, is going to be difficult. For that matter, how does he know it was TPB actual signature in the slab? Could have been any number of TBP counterfeit slab manufacturers out there.

Oh, and I've got a frisbee signed by David Hasselhoff from back when I was a student as UCSB and they were filming Baywatch on the beach. He'd better not try and take it back now or I'll crack him in the head with it.

If it was Lenny Dykstra's signature, he'd steal it back so he could sell it and pay off a bit of his $30 million in debts. Nails, Nails, Nails... what have you done with your cash?

Gee, maybe the fact that it is now part of his childhood home which he also moved to Texas?

Unfortunately the name probably increased the value of the house. Mr. Pickens realized that and couldn't figure a way to make any money from it, which is why he had it stolen.

If TBP wasn't involved, the least he could do is show up and write his name into a freshly paved slab for the guy. Just sayin...

If that is the sole purpose in purchasing property then you sir are a the reason why there never any toilet paper when I have the runs!

I guess his spokesman may be looking for a new job after sending a email amitting T Boone was in town when it was taken along with his thugs and then transported across state lines to his Texas ranch. Another note, if he is so proud of his Holdenville heritage why did he buy his boyhood home nextdoor, move it to Texas then come back and steal part of his neighbor's driveway. Just be glad T Boone didn't live next to you!
