Harry Potter vandalism annoys cops in Milwaukee suburb
The word "Voldemort" has been written in permanent marker on 50 to 75 stop signs throughout the city of Wauwatosa. (Stop Voldemort.) "Is it the crime of the century? No," says a cop. "But the problem is it's starting to add up." (Wauwatosa Now)July 16, 2009 | Permalink

I'm pretty sure that if you took a Stop sign and repainted it with the word Go that people would still stop at it.

I know how to pronounce "Wauwatosa."

one person's expression that writing "Voldemort" on stop signs is just absolutely pathetic is another person's expression of their virginity.

I am still a virgin.

Gasp! He who must not be named! And now the death eaters have returned!
I'm embarassed that I wasted my time reading those stupid books. You want to know the real secret of Harry Potter? JK Rowling can't compose an English sentence to save her life.

Drake, neither can Stephanie Meyer but the books they've written are SUPER entertaining!
I love me some Harry Potter movies! Snape is HOT!

You have ruined the book for me. thanks.
Also, to correctly pronounce wauwatosa you need to phonetically change the second w with a b

Books are for idiots.

I enjoyed Harry Potter, and Rowling writes just fine.
I will see the movie, but as a Rowling fan I have moved on.

Diane, you can't be serious!?
Posted by: torgo | Jul 16, 2009 1:59:26 PM
LOL, diane!
I read the books. They were OK enough, I guess. The writing improved as she went on but fine literature it ain't. I had to do a college project on the first one- basically write about why they were/are such a phenomenal hit. I remember I concluded that I had no 'effing idea but imo, it was pretty good that they were getting kids into reading.

You know, I could see a kid hopping out of a car and doing that once--but 75 times? Do you suppose they were all still howling with laughter and egging him on at the end? And did no one see this and think to get a plate number? I'd love to be there when the cop knocks on that parent's door...

Groan. Stephanie Meyers. Don't get me started.

I have never read any of the books. But no one would tell me who dies in the last one.
Posted by: diane | Jul 17, 2009 6:10:26 AM
diane- Scarface dies in the last one.

Saw the movie last night (and, yes, I read an enjoyed all the books). Good, but some differences to help move the story along in only (!) 2.5 hours. That was after the 20 minutes of previews. You really need to have seen the previous ones, though or at least have read the book(s). There are a few things that aren't explained.
And, hey, this is no worse than the radical vegetarians that put 'Eating Animals' stickers on stop signs.

are you making that up? you could tell me Tinkerbell dies and I would not know the difference.
