School officials embarrassed by GQ "Bruno" photo shoot
Sacha Baron Cohen, in his new guise as gay Austrian fashionista "Bruno," appears in the latest GQ magazine, photographed with LA's Birmingham High School football team. School officials aren't amused. (Los Angeles Times)
Yippee! More appalled school officials!

On paper this shold be comedian I like. But except for role as supporting codpiece in Sweeney Todd, Cohen is as dreary as a headcold.

I can't believe that people still fall for Baron-Cohen.
I'm not really a fan of his comedy style, but being able to pull it off for this long without constantly being recognized (and people not playing along, or pranking him instead) is pretty impressive.

Some is almost not comedy - like the bigotry he exposed in Borat.
I never saw too much of the Ali G show, but one segment where he is interviewing a group of animal activists is both very funny and awkward at the same time. You almost feel sorry for some of his 'victims'.
The Bruno character (and to some extent Borat) could be dangerous. I keep thinking someone is going to punch him out. I wonder if he has someone ready to jump in if someome goes bitchcakes on him.

If the school district is really embarrassed about this photo shoot, it's best to downplay it. Making a big stink about it (e.g., firing the coach and principal) will only add to the bad publicity.
Anyhow, Sacha Baron Cohen's humor doesn't do much for me.

I guess it's beet for teachers and school "offalshulls" to be fucking the students.

the guy sucks more ass than the angel of water cm-1.
in the commercials for borat i saw a bear in an ice cream truck and thought it might be funny. seeing the movie didnt add anything to that scene.
after borat, i will never see one of his stupid movies again. i should have asked the theater for my money back.

NOW???? The LA Schools are concerned for their students??
They can't read or write, and are almost unemployable.
I guess I'm a sick twisted freak...but I thought his Borat movie was hilarious... even when he was poking fun at my groups.

@Torgo - Isn't the umlaut (yeah, that's what those two little dots is called - what I learned in three years of HS German) on the 'u', not the'o'?

Did you see the segment on Borat where he was interviewing a Dairy farmer who was both a veteran and a veterinarian? I laughed my ass off while saying "what a prick"

The school officials might not have liked this, but I guarentee the students thought it was the highlight of the year!

These are high school football players in school uniform. Images can't be used unless there is permission given by someone. The school allowed it and now want to act like they are regreting it...that's crap. Sounds like a publicity stunt to me. Cali is in need of money, maybe this is their way of fundraising!

Does Bruno speak Austrian?

Right dANO. How about the one where he is going around with that Politico in Mississippi or the one where he is attempting to buy a house. That was as "Borat". Those early shows were the only ones I saw, but I thought they were very good. He got himself in some really outlandish situations but never broke character. I thought that demonstrated his talent as a performer, say what you want about the quality of his humor (which I still think was great)

I agree, I saw 'Borat' with my aunt who was 70, at the time. She laughed all the way through the movie. I, on the other hand, cringed and wanted to crawl under the seat in front of me. While we were exiting the cinema my cousin Penny expressed how 'Horrified' she was. Especial with the vulgar actions in front of everyone on the street. However, my Aunt Peg informed us to "lighten up a little" and to quote "Those who are easily shocked should be shocked more often" ... I guess I will be taking her to see Brüno, too. Should be fun ...

The school district/school is getting exactly what they deserve. There is no way Cohen & GQ could have snuck in, unaware, and secretly took hundreds of posed pictures, and then published them the next day. There has been months and months of planning and reaction time.
So... what the school is saying is that no one had the awareness to stop the whole photoshoot when Cohen pranced out in his getup (the photoshoot probably took a few hours, and there was plenty of time to stop it and take action). Riiight. Are they claiming that Cohen & GQ slipped drugs into the gatoraide cooler and then did the shoot?
It irritates me that they are now acting as though they now feel it was an error. This was something that multiple people had to agree to. Also, unless they were extorting the students and their parents, students and parents are just as guilty.
