Inmate sues to get vintage truck owned by couple he killed
Three years ago, William Deparvine was sentenced to death for killing Richard and Karla Van Dusen for their vintage Chevy pickup. He's still sitting in a cell - and still trying to get the vehicle. (St. Petersburg Times)
Well, it's just shocking that a guy who would kill two innocent people for a truck would turn out to be a jerk, also. What are the odds?

Score one for the Sunshine State.

I saw this article in the paper this morning and apparently the daughter has already gotten rid of the truck. I'm not quite sure what he's even suing for (other than to prove that he's a complete and total douch). The article also mentioned that this suit has been wending its way through the court system for more than two years. It takes two years for a judge to tell him to pound sand? How awful for the family!

He's got life in prison. What the heck is going to do with a truck?

what a jackalope...what does he think he will do, escape from prison in it? sell it for smokes?
i am glad to hear the daughter did get rid of it. most likely, a bad memory for her and the other family members.

I'm usually against the death penalty, but in this dickwad's case I'm tempted to make an exception.

Do they execute people who have a court case pending? Maybe he figures that if he can keep this court case alive he can keep himself alive too.

They should carry out the death sentence by running him over with the truck. Have a nice day!

I'd be willing to donate a carton of smokes into some other inmates account to have him Shiv this waste of skin.

LOL @ eBarb! I LIKE it! :-D

I think this guy is in need of a shanking in the worst way. To continue to harass this family is beyond wrong, and the court letting him do it is inexcusable!!

Jojo: "the court letting him do it is inexcusable!!"
I hesitate to sound like I'm defending this gentleman (ie jerk, douche, jackalope, dickwad, waste of skin.)
Buuuuuut .....
If he was an innocent man (yes, I know, but still) then he paid $6,500 for a truck and ended up in jail.
Now, I know he's guilty, and YOU know he's guilty, but he has the LEGAL RIGHT to try and convince an appeals court that he's not. And if he let's the daughter keep the truck he's trying to pretend he paid for, his case gets weaker.
So, while he's probably not a finalist for Time's Man of the Year, he IS acting in a rational, legal way.

This is why they need to have a rule of two appeals and then put a bullet in his head. Instead we allow these dirt bags to go on for years wasting our tax dollars and causing hell to the families they've already done so much damage too.

In Ohio last week, a man was executed for a murder he committed 18 years ago. He left the bar with a woman he had just met, driving her car. He put her in the trunk, then stopped and let her out. She pleaded for her life. He forced her in the trunk a second time, and then decided to set the car afire. His first attempt failed, so he punched holes in the gasoline tank, and managed to get the car burning. She burned alive. It took 18 years to go through his appeals process for that crime.

Came for this. Done now. Thanks!

I think they should give this guy one last ride with this truck... cuff him to the rear bumper and hit the highway!

The scariest part of that sentence is that in the totally f****d world we've created today, it's correct. Which means it's time for someone to bomb us back to the Stone Age, apparently.

I think they must give one test drive to guys. It looks like they carry out the death sentence by running him over with the truck
