Wisconsin cop wins doughnut-eating contest for the third time

Sgt. Howard Sawyers (at left) downed 17 doughnuts in three minutes to win this year's world's cop doughnut-eating championship and also set a cop doughnut-eating record. Sawyers has won the championship more times than anybody -- three out of the six annual contests. (Janesville Gazette)

What I find scary is the following excerpt. "Sawyers' career as a doughnut-eating champ began in 2005 at the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association's annual conference in Illinois."

How does one have anything to do with the other? Whose idea was it to piggyback them?

Size doesn't matter. I watched a scrawny 120 lb guy eat $7 worth of hamburgers once in about 10 minutes and he wasn't racing, just eating because he was hungry. Of course that was when they were 19 cents apiece at Jack's.
