Texas Rangers fan told "Yankees Suck" shirt is unacceptable
The woman was asked to turn her shirt inside out or leave the Arlington, Texas ballpark before the start of the game against the Yankees. She protested, but turned the shirt inside out. (Dallas Morning News)
Some weired mofos in DFW. During the NBA playoffs fans were hurling racist comments at the Nuggets.

I believe "sucks" shouldn't warrant this. I wouldn't wear it on my shirt and wouldn't want anyone I was with to either.
I think the sucklist offensive meter should be (mildest to strongest):
sucks
sucks big
sucks big time
sucks hard
and then related but more offensive:
blows
blows hard

SEMSC
You forgot "Swallows"
Posted by: RockyMtnMac | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:09 AM
Yes, I guess that would be the tops.
Posted by: stopeatingmysesamecake | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:10 AM
I can't believe I just said that
Hanging my head in shame...
Posted by: RockyMtnMac | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:10 AM
Maybe she just had nice jahoobies and security wanted to see them.
Posted by: SwarthyTroll | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:13 AM
RMM, Sshhhh..... It's okay.
Posted by: LimeGreenLizard | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:15 AM
They should have given the woman a free Rangers shirt to wear over her offensive tee.
Although this would lead to a rash of people wearing offensive shirts in the hope of scoring some Rangers loot, the taxpayers paid for the lion's share of this ballpark so it would simply be payback.
Posted by: Phranqlin | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:17 AM
I just remembered,
I have no shame.
Anyway, I really don't think "Sucks" is that offensive. And if someone is going to bruise over seeing the word "Sucks", maybe they should not be going to a pro-athletic event anyway.
Plus, I happen to agree with her shirt... lol!
Posted by: RockyMtnMac | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:29 AM
They should just come up with a shirt that says:
Yankees are bad at baseball
That'll teach 'em.
Posted by: Elroy | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:33 AM
I have grown up in an obviously different baseball environment. They sell Sox suck shirts at the shops just outside Wrigley Field (Cubs). I mean, there's even different varieties (logo editing to say "Sux"). And they have same stuff against the cubs.
I'd be worried if I DIDN'T see them at the games.

Jack Nicholson to the Rangers," You can't handle the truth!"
Posted by: Jim | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 08:54 AM
It's a shirt for crying out loud and in the grand scheme of what you hear walking down the street - sucks is pretty mild. I prefer my shirts to not be quite as boring as "so and so sucks". My current favorite is black and white striped and says "Inmates for liquid soap" - not very mature, but it makes me laugh.

Reason Number 138 Why I Won't Go To Texas: 'Suck' is a bad word.
Posted by: Reno the pregnant goddess | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 09:06 AM
Yankees chant BOSTON SUCKS. Why the hell not give em a taste of their own medicine? I wonder what they think of "sucks eggs?"
Posted by: twerp | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 09:24 AM
Well living in New England all we have around here are those "Yankees Sucks" shirts. can't walk a block with out seeing something that says that.
Posted by: Pyro | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 09:27 AM
I think Elroy's suggestion is actually pretty good.
Posted by: nellagain | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 09:36 AM
People are offended by seing the word 'suck'?
Can someone tell me we when this country turned into a collection of pussies?????
Posted by: joel | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:04 AM
@zoot my current favorite is 'I am not Mr. Right but I will f**k you until he gets here'.
Same thing, not mature, but very funny.
Posted by: joel | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:08 AM
I would hope that a Yankees fan with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Rangers fan who hasn’t lived that life.
PS I am not a token. Really. I am the most qualified for the position and my race and gender have nothing to with it. Really.

I think RMM has been a bad girl and needs a spankin ;)
Posted by: GeorgeW | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:11 AM
I think you're right George. I'll take care of it...
Posted by: LimeGreenLizard | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:23 AM
lol
I've probably been bad enough for both of you, however, I think W. should be advised I am not a Rangers fan either!
They suck! LOL!
Posted by: RockyMtnMac | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM
Regardless of whether you hate the janquees or not, the woman made a point, you can't avoid offending someone.
I find big jewelry and "I'm with Stupid" shirts offensive. Ban Them.
I prefer Sucks the Moose Royale and use it whenever I can.
Posted by: Lou Sussler | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:36 AM
Hell RMM I sold them boys years ago...I was just as good at runnin' a baseball team as I was drillin fer oil and runnin the country...
I'm much better at spankin!

blows hard
you forgot swallows....
but not too hard; it is bad manners to cough and gag...:)
Posted by: lynn | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM
I think everyone is missing the point here. It's not about her shirt being offensive, no one having the right to not be offended, free speech, etc.
While it seems like she was out in "public"...she really wasn't out in public, as in walking down the street or in a park or some other public property. She was on private property, the owners and management of which DO have a right to enforce any dress code they deem appropriate. If THEY were offended by the shirt, worried that it might incite trouble between patrons on their property, etc., then they had every right to ask her to change or leave their property. Maybe they felt that it would make them appear inhospitable to the other team or create and unsportsman-like atmosphere. Right or wrong, that's their right to make that judgment and create the type of atmosphere they want for their games.
I'm not agreeing with their decision or taking sides one way or another on the offensiveness or lack thereof of the word 'sucks'. I'm just saying that it was THEIR choice to make, as with any business entity. It's no different than restaurants with a jacket and tie policy...either put one on or leave. Same thing as no shoes/no service in nice places, while other casual ones don't care. If enough people voice their opinion that they were wrong and stop going to the games because of it, they might change their minds next time.

*sigh*
Why do I always seem to show up late to the spanking parties and miss out?
Posted by: ReginaFilangee | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11:04 AM
I have oodles of goofy t-shirts.
I'm a smart one (with a donkey on the front)
It's only illegal if you get caught
You looked better online
And a whole bunch more.. my usual attire is one of those and a pair of jean shorts in the summer. Since I don't have to wear certain clothes at work.

ditto what regina said (the 1st post) -- on the spanking, i am just watching to make sure rmm does not get hurt. ;)

Texas really is great.
Dragging a person with a darker skin tone to death is ok.
Shooting a person with a less dark skin tone jumping a fence is ok.
Electrocuting a mentally handicapped person is ok.
WHAT??! Naughty language?!!? Nudity?!? Evolution?!?! I'm gunna string you up in da name a Jeebus!
Posted by: adam | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 01:41 PM
ahhhh...Now I'm a happy god!!!!!!
Posted by: USMerc | Friday, May 29, 2009 at 02:46 PM
I think it's very different Regina.
You have your choice in restaurants but isn't there only one MLB team there?
I own the only gas station in 150 miles and I say you can't buy gas from me unless you're wearing New Balance brand sneakers.
There are different rules for monopolies.

LOL @ LGL - I never realized that having my butt picked was a benefit of being a goddess.

I can understand why "Yankees Suck" could be offensive, if she was an English-woman. ;-)
Posted by: openeyed | Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 01:35 PM
Something like this happened a few years ago at a Mariners game. The reason the management gave was "We are creating a family atmosphere so no vulgar slogans."
They suck.
Posted by: David | Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11:28 PM
Regina and Sussler are both correct, but Reno and Adam make the most effective points against the mindset of the lone star state.
Anything one does to be considered for expulsion from Texas, is truly a blessing in disguise.
As a republic, and the only state which can legally secede, I strongly encourage them to do so. I'm sure South Carolina would be jealous.

My favorite t-shirt raised eyebrows 30 years ago, but aroused quite a few of the young, attractive, and curious. It read:
Save A Tree
Eat A Beaver
PETA would cringe.

Although the Rangers have a good record, it’s just difficult to take the Ragers seriously. Are they going to tank again once the summer heats up? Time will tell & I hope that you won’t stop supporting your team!!! Just read about them here:
