Man, 82, strangles girlfriend for the way she loads dishes

If it's an illness, maybe he should be locked up but maybe not in prison.

I don't know why we persist in treating mental illness criminally.

Grandpa Sid was a kind loving man all his live. Until he got alzheimer's. One day he punched out Grandma Rose and got taken away in handcuffs. He spent the night in jail until my mom got down there and got him out of jail and into a home. He was still locked up for sure but at least getting some kind of treatment and with other patients not criminals.

I can almost sympathize, having two family members who have resisted all training in how to load a dishwasher correctly. It's not about some anal insistence about where things go - one persists in loading dishes so that they are locked together, the other can use up all available space by spreading out four or five items. Neither can accept a clue about the problem, so I just sigh and reload the damn thing.

Don't know for a fact that he did this as we used to have that whole innocent until proven guilty. But I must say, if his mug shot above means anythng, he looks like a big old bully.
