I don't blame them. Who the hell wants breakfast at 2AM?
Posted by: Nom de Plume | Monday, March 30, 2009 at 12:45 PM
IT MUST BE IN THE FOOD THEY SERVE.

Say hello to my little friend!!!
That is the first thing that popped into my brain when I read he went into the trunk to retrieve the shotgun.

I wanted to do this the last time I went to Wendy's and got a baked potato. They didn't give me butter OR sour cream and I was PISSED!!!

I think KC is pondering, fanning himself with the feather of his pen.
Knitting his brow.

This is awesome... I've been tempted to do that sooooo many times. Breakfast at McDonalds is enough to make anyone flip out and start shooting.
Pretty hard to screw up a cheeseburger, but their breakfast is just gross. These shooters are innocent on principle alone.

Reno, that happened to me at a restaurant recently--I ordered potato skins to go, and asked for extra sour cream. I wound up getting none. That sucked, but I didn't kill anyone over it. It wasn't worth going back to get it--I usually always check before I leave, too, but someone else in my office picked up the order that day, so I guess that's what I get.
That being said--I've never understood why fast food restaurants can't just have everything on the menu all day--would that effing KILL them? Seriously--if I want pancakes at 11:00 AM, because I couldn't get to McDonald's by 10:30, what's the urgency of ONLY serving hamburgers at that point.
Oh, and Nom de Plum--lots of people love breakfast food at 2:00 AM, especially after a night of partying. You clearly don't get out much.

The thing that bugs me the most is not getting that for which you paid. And then not finding out until you get home. At which point it makes no sense to go all the way back. My wife (Mrs. Chief - thanks lynn!) wanted Mcdonald's hotcackes and sausage last Saturday (don't ask), so, being the dutiful husband (and the only one dressed for the out-of-doors), I went. Said H&S on the receipt, but no sausage when I got home. Fortunately, I orderd a big breakfast (which, to my sirprise, didn't come with hotcackes), so I gave her some of my sausage.

My neighborhood McDonalds does that breakfast only after 2:00 thing. I suspect that breakfast items deliver higher profit margins which make up for the fact that nobody wants that crap.
Two posts up they're wondering why fast food joints can't offer menu items around the clock. My experience with McDonalds is they can't even get it together to make the change from breakfast to lunch at any time. Several times I've asked for lunch items only to be told they serve breakfast until such and such a time and I'll point them to the clock on the wall showing such and such a time is long past. They have to make the same switchover at the same time everyday except Sunday but they continually fail to pull it off.
Good on the "Polynesian" for delivering a message.

Thanks, Me--I figured that out a LONG time ago. I just wonder why, since the breakfast food (and likewise the lunch/dinner food) doesn't disappear at 10:30 AM, then magically re-appear again at 6:00 AM, why it is necessary to limit when anything is served.

To the breakfast/lunch menu switch:
I spoke to a manager about this once. She said that the reason McD's doesn't serve both menus simultaneously is due to cost effectiveness. Apparently, the grill needs to run at different temperatures for the different menus. Rather than run two grills at different temps, and risk a backup at either, they only offer one menu at a time.
This could be BS, but it sounded as likely as any other reason.

Fast food there, if you call it food, is mostly cooked by the woman locked inside her car. If the sign says no breakfast after 10:30, she knows it can't be made after then 'cause they told her it was burger time after then and that's that! Last time I ate at a FFP I spent roughly $15 for a small amount of garbage food for two people and asked for another of the cups of dipping sauce since the one I had was half full. They set two on the counter and as I started to walk away the girl said "That will be fifty cents". I almost reached for the change and then it hit me how utterly stupid it was to pay for that. I laid a $100 bill on the counter thinking I was being a wise azz. She took it and gave me my change.....
