The New York Post's media writer claims Rolling Stone is "getting heat" for putting "a particularly sinister-looking" George W. Bush on its latest cover. One designer who once worked for the magazine tells him: "I say it made him look more like a monkey. To me, it's kind of like kicking a dead horse." The magazine's managing editor says: "There really wasn't any great debate. Evil isn't what we were shooting for, we were trying to make him look old and beaten and a little weathered."

The farewell interview that Rolling Stone wishes Bush would give
To me it looks like he is about to burst into tears -- hardly sinister.

Sinister? We've seen this look on his face many times in the last 8 yrs, and it simply looks like he's completely dumbfounded....which I believe he usually is.
Nothing "sinister" about it.
Posted by: cherie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:19 AM
No, that doesn't look sinister whatsoever. Unless you consider the (completely fictitious) artists' application of evidence of a conscience (remorseful expression, etc.) on a person so clearly lacking the moral or emotional depth and complexity to possess one "sinister."
Oh, Boo-Hoo, be nice to him. Whine Cry, liberal media, you liberal a$$holes, Obama's the anti-Christ, Bush haters, wah-wah, blah-blah. (in an effort to save some Trollish time)
Posted by: sometimesilie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:21 AM
^I would claim that despising Bush is a *completely* non-partisan past time.
Posted by: sometimesilie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:22 AM
Cherie, I will have to agree with you 100% on this.
Posted by: RockyMtnMac | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:28 AM
Wahhhhhhhh! Like the NY Post (part of Rupert Murdoch's media empire) has never put a bad picture of a Democrat on it's cover.
Posted by: G-Man | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:31 AM
Not sinister--constipated, maybe, but not sinister!
Posted by: troschne | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:35 AM
If he keeps pushing like that he'll blow an o-ring. Fiber dude fiber.
Posted by: Dick C Normas | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:35 AM
It's evil! EEEVIL!!
Nope, dumbfounded in the truest sense of the word.
Posted by: Torgo | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:37 AM
G-Man, Rupert Murdoch is the Liberal Media. Biased, ya know? Du'h!
Posted by: sometimesilie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:40 AM
LMAO @ Troschne
Posted by: cherie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:43 AM
I had to read the blurb before I realized that
a) Rolling Stone was still in publication.
b) That was a picture of Bush.
Posted by: nellagain | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:50 AM
He looks like his cat just died. Wait, it did!
Posted by: Phranqlin | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:53 AM
It's politics pure and simple. If Rolling Stone wants to run a political story then so be it. Both sides give as good as they get. I'm sure the left will cry like babies when futrue President Obama gets hacked in a magazine article.
Posted by: Hey! | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 08:57 AM
sometimesilie, are you really that clueless? Murdoch is a rabid right-winger. Duh!

I could never vote for Bush but I'll bet he would be a a hoot to watch an NFL game with.

"At least Bush knows how many states there are - (it's not 57)"
The only state he knows is the state of confusion.

It's very strange to see the conservative bloggers turn into little whiners overnight.
Posted by: DCer | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 10:28 AM
In the spirit of full confessions, I should say I voted for this guy in 2000.

Bill! I finally know what tune to sing the song to. This is the first time I've understood. It's genius.
I've wished many times you'd add "should be sung to the tune of"
Posted by: kevy | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 11:06 AM
Bill, that was very creative!
Posted by: troschne | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 11:14 AM
Thanks Kevy, but to be honest this one practically wrote itself.
In the future I will try to remember to add the name of the original tune.

He does look like a monkey--like SIL said awhile back, Curious George!

Speaking of the conservatives whining, did anyone see that Palin is going to task on the "horrible liberal media" and saying she and her family were treated unfairly during the campaign efforts?
She complained about the SNL skit where Tina F. made a joke about teens forced into marriage. (funny how she later appeared on the show making fun of herself)
And she then complained about the Katie Couric interview but at least admitted she should've answered some of the questions more clearly. Stating that she didn't answer the question regarding what publications she read because she thought it was an insult....that Katie was trying to make her look illiterate. (She did a pretty good job of that herself) and she also claimed the media wouldn't have done something like that to the Obama's. REALLY? Geez I remember both Barrack and his wife being hung out to dry over their Pastor, his potentially being a Muslim, her supposidly denouncing her country etc etc etc.
Palin ...just another "victim" of the horrible "liberal" media. The conservatives are crying...someone call Rush Limbaugh
Posted by: cherie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 12:44 PM
well he was the president. like him or not. he did have great responsibilty. I have noticed on thing about america is how fast they turn against their elected leaders when it seems popular to do so. most of these people are what we call MEDIOTS (media idiots), you know the guy who believes anything that he sees on cnn or reads the rolling stone and takes it as gospel. the media controlled this election. propaganda if you will. nuff said

A pretty weak article really. A much better (and more chilling one) is this:

I for one won't miss his chimp-face. I work for the feds (I took a day off - I'm not goofing on goverment time, I swear!) and the day they take his picture off the wall in my office will be a happy one. And Hey! If Obama turns out to be half as inept and dangerous as W, I will welcome the press letting us know about it. Once bitten twice shy.

Nah, the better candidate won.
Posted by: sometimesilie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 01:18 PM

The amazing thing is that these Bush haters couldn't just use a photo (of which there are millions of Bush), but they had to get someone TO MANIPULATE....that is, "DOCTOR" up a photo to make him look bad.
How very sad, pathetic, & petty.
And you sleazy, socialist, mindless liberals here supporting this crap are just as bad....Y'ALL have NO CLASS, NONE at all.
Posted by: thetruth | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 02:17 PM
Well, thetruth, here we go again. If we are not happy with the sad, sick path our nation has been led down the last 8 years we are all "sleazy, socialist, mindless liberals" and probably "secret moooslims who hate America too!". Guess what buddy, the majority of Americans SPOKE on election day in November, electing by a landslide the candidate of choice, YOUR Commander in Chief. Repeat after me - "President Obama". I hope that he does a decent job of extricating us from the tremendous mess W and his crew left us but to be sure Obama, and America, inherited a steaming pile of Mary Kay sales rep porch droppings.
Bitter, whiney GOP tears nourish my soul.
Posted by: freetomato | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 02:42 PM
That sure is scary. Looks like he's trying to read all them $2 words on that there Constimatution. Too bad he'll never figure out what it all means.
Well, what it means to me, at least.

truthy dahlin'
i think that is a drawing or maybe even a painting.
it is known occassionally as caricatural renditions.
if that is truly a photo, mr bush needs to lighten up on the self tanning products.
have a good weekend all. i am going to try to stay warm here in the wetlands.

Right. Nice attempt, but we all know you're clueless.

To "retardedtomato":
In your small, twisted, ignorant mind, "landslide" = 52% to 48%
You are a freakin' IDIOT!!! lol
Posted by: thetruth | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 06:38 PM
He looks like he's about to crap his pants. I'll bet someone just reminded him that he only gets Secret Service protection for ten years, not life.
Posted by: Bernie | Friday, January 09, 2009 at 07:46 PM
Say it again, slowly, relish the words, "thetruththatcannothandlethetruth"....President Obama. By landslide, I mean there was no doubt, no room for question, how our country had decided. Do you disagree? You watched TV that night, right?
Your guy sucked. Your guy who ran to replace the guy who sucked...sucked. He did not suck in 2000 - I liked him then. But in his thirst for power, he drank the Rove kool-aid. That worked out well, didn't it?
Your bitter tears nourish me.
Keep bringin' on the Rushs and Coulters and Hannitys and Palins...I relish the far right nutbags bringing themselves further into the spotlight to show how counterproductive, hateful, irrelevant and petty the Republican party has become. Continue to marginalize yourself with being apologetic for the worst administration ever. If it causes a split so the fundy's go one way, and what the Republicans USED to be go another - excellent. I know many long time Republicans who are pretty disillusioned by what the "Republican" party has come to represent in the last few years.
But hey, I'm a "freakin idiot!!!!" Your rapier wit has convinced me - I am voting McCain, dammit!
Dare, "thetruth". Dive into a Fark.com political discussion. I'll stand back and watch you get filleted.

To the misnamed "thetruth"
Check the electoral votes, dummy. This is a republic; the prez is elected by the states.
It WAS a landslide. You must have been home-schooled to be so out of touch with the truth.
Posted by: | Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 07:30 AM
Just for the record, I've been making fun of W since 1999. This isn't anything new for me, but then again I'm a card-carrying liberal and have been for many a year.
Posted by: Caffeinated Katie | Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 08:18 AM
thetruth--even though there was only 4% difference between Obama and McPlain, the Electoral College votes not withstanding--at least we knew that night who the President was, not having to wait until the next day, much less over a month/Supreme Court decision, so compared to the last two elections, it was a landslide. Say it with me--Pres-i-dent O-ba-ma. Now--try it on your own. See--not so bad now, is it, truthy?
Posted by: troschne | Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 09:07 AM
Presumably, even though he's departing office any day now, and evn though we're all glad to see him go, it's still been decreed by someone that it's an act of high treason if Dear Leader is portrayed in any manner other than that of sporting a halo and being enshrouded in a fog of heavenly light...
Why the f** is the media still so intent on trying to preserve this mammoth jerk's image anyway?
