Man apologizes for fatally stabbing woman in spat over TV remote

"There was a slight altercation over the remote control," Donald Zampini, 73, explained in court. "She removed it from my hand. I asked for it. She took it back." He stabbed her 28 times but says he doesn't remember it. (Trenton Times)

That's Right!
My husband can take the remote when he pries it from my cold dead hands!

"There was a slight altercation over the remote control,"
----

Slight=stabbed 28 times?

Just what would a moderate altercation be?

Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, stab... huh?

"There was a slight altercation over the remote control..." So, I assume that, for it to be a MAJOR altercation, he would have to have stabbed her 29 times?

sorry semsc; you beat me to it.

He thought 18 yrs in prison was better than a life sentence???!!!??? At his age isn't 18 yrs pretty much a life sentence?

If that was a slight altercation I'd hate to see what he thought a massive altercation was...

Ok, so my above comment is laced with redundancy. Sorry

It sounds like there was a slight altercation over self-control to me.

"Zampini changed his mind about going to trial because he "weighed his options" and decided it would be preferable to serve an 18-year sentence than life in prison, which he would have faced if convicted of murder. "

Now that's what I call a positive attitude!

Maybe she tripped and fell on the knife.

"She ran into my knife! She ran into my knife! Twen-ty-eight times!
She had it comin', she had it comin', she had it coming all along..."

"Pop
Six
Squish
Uh uh
Cicero
Lipschitz!
...So, I said to him,
I said, "You pop that
gum one more time..."
and he did.
So I took the shotgun off the wall
and I fired two warning shots...
...into his head
He had it coming
He only had himself to blame"

Well trosche, you have to admit that the gum popping argument is absolutly unassailable.

I agree, nell--that is an annoying habit! I love that song!

My mom used to get all stabby-feeling over ice crunching.

Nell! Stop It! That bit always makes me horny! ANd I'm supposed to be sad about this story! Oh well, where's the Astroglide and the Chicago DVD?

Posted by: Mikey | Dec 3, 2008 4:56:47 PM

Aw, c'mon! If you really, REALLY wanna watch a different channel but you don't have the remote, there is always the option of going up to the TV/cable box and changing it yourself. ::gasp:: The horror, the horror!

(Ten-to-one the TV was closer to him than the kitchen was where I guess he got the knife from.)

This is also a great defensive move as well: if you continue standing there, it helps block out the "receiver" area on the tv or cable box, thereby preventing the remote thief from changing the channel.

Yeah, I know; I need a life.

Mikey, do you REALLY watch the "Chicago" CD with your Astroglide? :-D
