Man robs armored-car guard, flees on an inner tube
The man confronted the guard and sprayed him with pepper spray. A witness says the robber then "grabbed the money and ran on foot to the river. He got into an inner tube and floated westbound." (Seattle Times)

We need more creative people like this in America. The same ol' pull out the gun, grab the money, and jump in the car routine gets boring after a while. Pepper spray and an inner tube is refreshing.

NOW THAT IS DEFINITELY A GREAT IDEA FOR SURE

agreed, G-Man. I would like to see a robber get away on a scooter sometime too--or a "big wheel."

I like it. I like it a lot!! I'd go for a hang-glider getaway too...

I am just shocked that this happened first in Seattle, instead of here in New Braunfels Texas where the economy revolves around "toobin" the Guadalupe River. The City Code already contains many ordinances to regulate activities on the river, they could easily add one to try and prevent "getaway" by innertube.

I am sure he is part of the same crime ring as the topless suspender girls from yesterday

I heard on the radio this morning that he put an add on CraigsList to have people come in masks and blue shirts to the bank if they wanted a construction job. So, pleanty of folks dressed like him in the area. More confusion. Props for the imagination, though.

I dont know what the rivers are like there, but here...you could see that guy for quite a distance, it would be really difficult to just disappear, that and we have cops in boats here as well.

some robber should try the skyhook thing that batman pulled in the dark knight. He could keep whatever he got away with in recognition of his sheer badassery.
also he'll need it for the chiropractor.

Not sure where on the river he was, but most of the rivers around here that are in populated (read: developed) areas are pretty twist-turney, due to being near sea level.

In Monroe, WA where this happened the Skykomish River winds its way alongside Buck Island Park, which is very large, and rural unincorporated Snohomish County. Quite the crafty get away. Seeing as how the weather here in the Puget Sound region has been relatively warm this week (high 70's to low 80's) it wouldn't have raised too many eyebrows to see someone floating down the river--heck if it's over 60 it's down right summer time!

We needed a sequel to the "The Great Escape!"
This would be great!

Love it, this is the best bank job ever. they need and probly will make a movie about it. I am very pro law, but this guy deserved the money for a original idea.

Reno;
If the timing was perfect, he might have disappeared as one of many in the start of a hot air baloon race.
Love the ultralight angle, but might not be enough to accomodate his suspiciously slender accomplice, the Michelin man.
(cough)

He'll get caught if he gets, er, ah, um, tired.
