Let's see more law enforcement and less joke-forwarding

A sheriff in Texas has apologized in person to a local Muslim group for insensitive e-mails sent by members of his staff, including one that used the name Muhammad to make a joke about eating pork. Another e-mail discussed "the number of foreigners that own gas stations" in a discussion about possible terror attacks and fires. (Houston Chronicle)

Its gotten to the point that you cannot say anything, about anybody, anywhere, at anytime without offending someone. No talking to anyone for fear of offending. BS

Tasteless and immature...at best...

ignorant and racist...at worst...

The whole barbie thing has been made in every community in the US of A. I myself got the "fox valley barbie" and thought that it was hysterical.

"It's a travesty," said City Councilman Jarvis Johnson, who grew up in the Fifth Ward and now represents it. "They're categorizing an entire neighborhood. It enrages me and is very upsetting to me and my family."

Oh grow up dude, its a flippin barbie joke! Jeez Louise.

Anybody ever read the Bill of Not Rights? Look it up sometime. One of which is that you don't have the right to not be offended. Grow up already.

Docked a week's pay? For a joke? You've got to be kidding. The sheriff is a p.c. wuss who caved.

When you are a cop, and you have the power of life and death over citizens, you are held to a higher standard.

Don't like it? Quit.

Let'em eat pork.

It amazes me the things I've seen people send in their work email. I don't think a lot of them understand those emails are not private. If you want to send jokes, dirty picture, etc. to your friends at work use your personal email and send it to their personal email. Problem solved.

We are being a bit over zealous in our pursuit of political correctness. I've seen more jokes about Jesus and Buddah, and all of the other religions that I can count and I don't remember a single one of them ever needing an appology. With that said, these guys and or girls were idiots for doing it from a work computer.

I happened to attend a meeting with a large number of people from Houston last week and I was shocked at the level of rudeness and unprofessionalism that they considered "politically incorrect." Making fun of a person's wheelchair? What adult does that in life, let alone in a business meeting? That's not "politically correct" that's just old-fashioned politeness.

"Racism" applies to race, not religion.

These are the same kinds of people who forward those emails from Microsoft hoping to get $1,000 and a laptop once Bill Gates sees that the message has been passed along to 25 email addresses. I hate forwarders!

Cops ARE the joke, don't you people get it yet? If they aren't beating people they're telling racist jokes.

Unfortunately,
in his life and in his followers Mohammad has been responsible for more crimes than can be counted. I don't mean to insult anyone, but this is true. This is a very sick religion. Jesus or Buddha didn't act the way Mohammad did, committing rapes and murders and encouraging his followers to do the same. I'm sorry, but I seriously doubt if he has any place in the modern world. He commands respect for the exact same reasons 'gangstas' do. Insult Jesus all you want, or I expect Buddha, Moses, Confucius or other founders of religions, and their followers won't kill you.

I feel the same about police officers as I do the security guards that I posted about in the psychiatric ward story.

However, I have tons of respect for firefighters, paramedics, emt's, and other emergency response crews who aren't associated with law enforcement.

:-) Yep...that about covers my feelings on this story.

$2,800 for one week?!! I've got the wrong job!!

Twerp,Sean

Your opinion of police has me wondering how many run ins you have had. Sean, by your prior postings, I am guessing that you have been arrested more than once. Of course each time was a frame-up. Twerp, I am not sure about, maybe just a hatred of any type of authority.

In 14 years of service, I have seen too many men and women give their lives to protect and serve ungratefull createns like yourselves.

Forgive my rant, but I see this kind of disrespect all to often.
The next time you need help, think about what you have stated in the past. If you dispise police so much, don't call. I can say with confidence that we would much rather be at home with our families than hearing about you and your grips about your neighbors.

I live in south florida and I believe that there are more bad cops than good. Everyday I hear or see on the radio, tv, or internet that a cop did this, a cop said that..FU&K the cops.Gabriel, let me tell you a little story about your precious little cops....One day 2 years ago, i get a knock at the door, open it and it was 65 cops outside my door with no search warrant or anything...They just busted down my door, scared my kids, tore my house all apart, looking for a forest of marijuana, none was found..They got a tip from a neighbor thinking that I was growing pot..I wasn't...They found nothing..I did'nt even get an apolgy from them or anything..Now I have an attorney. There ass this time is mine...At least their money will be...So Gabriel, think about that the next time you cops pulls up to a single family home and try to do anything without a warrant or even probable cause. Next time maybe you wont be so lucky.

The only problem is that they were sent from work addresses/computers. I don't want tax money spent doing this or things like it.

The is no problem with the jokes at all. Not a one. It is not racist. It is anti-religion at best. We do have a freedom of religion.... not a freedom from religion.

There is NO right that says... you have the right not to be offended. Not one.

However, I see a lot of double standards where race and religion are concerned. While I dislike all religions and think they are nothing more than man made control organizations... it does seem socially okay to bash Christians, Mormons, etc, and none other that are NOT Christian based.

Can't have it both ways. can't say it is okay to bash one and not the other. Can't say it is okay to satire one and not another.

Otherwise you discriminate.

Best of both worlds... bash em all... they are worthless anyway.

As far as race goes. It is your right to believe what ever you want to believe. You just cannot infringe with injury anyone else's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The degree of injury is relative. I see no harm in calling a Islamic faith worthless and too stupid to be even considered rational. I don't have a problem with making fun of it either.

Then again... i don't have a problem with mjaking light of any situation. Even death.

Gee,I hope no one's feelings were hurt. Perhaps Muslims can find another country to live in where they are more 'sensitive' to the Muslim cause.
