Gas-theft scam foiled when couple leaves personalized drill behind
A man and his girlfriend accused of drilling holes in gas tanks to steal gas slipped up when one of them left a drill behind that had the guy's name etched on it. He blamed his girlfriend on the thievery, but she says he was simply the lookout. (Ocala.com)

just goes to show that even having a lock on my gas cap doesn't help much.

This should be read a cry for help. Think about it, gas prices must have risen too high and these people must have had no other choice but to steal the gas. This should then be translated to 'we need alternative, cheaper fuel desperately'.

You know gas prices are too high when upstanding, hardworking meth lab operators are reduced to stealing gas. Solar now!

I'm surprised we're not hearing similar stories from all over the country. With the gas prices as high as they are...this can't be a one-time instance. He's worried his drill will get stolen so he etches his name on it but he has no qualms about stealing other people's gas....go figure.

I figure he is stupid.

Unique...I've had a few times in my life where I was too broke to afford gas...or food, but I never stole either. Just because prices rise too high doesn't mean that its then ok to steal your richer neighbors property.
There will ALWAYS be people that are too poor to afford gas. No matter what the gas prices are.

There *are* stories like this. Really lame stuff like people returning rental car with tanks filled with water.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but I'm going to have my drill etched with the name Tom Cruise. It will be really funny when they cart him away in a police car.

I avoid this problem by just keeping my tank all but empty. I have been amazed at how far my car goes on what seems to be prayers alone.

Good luck getting under most cars with ease to get at their gas tanks. I never left my tank go below a half but I'm not worried, getting at my gas tank is no easy task. Now if you own a pickup or large SUV they are much easier to get at and have the larger tanks worth draining.

Two sterilizations please.

These two thiefs should be doused with gasoline and set afire as an example to other would-be lowlife thiefs. If it were up to me, I'd air the immolation on all the major networks.

Y'know that's an awful lot of trouble to go through for what? $75 bucks worth of gas.
I really need to get "So you've decided become a criminal" to a publisher. I have a whole chapter on "Stick to one crime at a time" If you are cooking meth, don't run a stop sign.

i like how the cops questioned his girlfriend, let her bail him out, and then arrested him again, along with her.

The terrible expense to the vehicles are really going to cost the owners. I wish these creeps even felt remorse for how it's going to affect people. They don't care.
Some of the preceding articles sound too sickening for me to want to read.I can't bring myself to.

To the semiliterate person who wrote this summary: please learn the difference between "blame on" and "blame for."
