Drunk students arrested for raccoon-hunting hijinks
The two, who had a bow and arrow, were "literally, like hiding behind bushes and things like that," says police commander Tim McGraw. (Campus Press)

Ah, Boulder. Ever the source of retarded news articles.

A compound is like overkill for killing raccoons. (I do archery myself.)
Also, it amuses me to no end how they use the wrong terminology for "sharp points" (the correct term is "broadheads")
The police also probably had no idea where to find the serial number.

This could have ended a lot worse than it did.

"literally, like hiding behind bushes and things like that,"
Now, I say "like" a lot but it's just funnier when I hear someone else say it--especially a male cop because it makes him look stupid.
That's like totally valley girl.

good thing compound bows won't fit in his/their pants waistband
Farmer Bob, where are you? These two are primed!

Should have read "They were booked into the Boulder County Jail and sterilized."

Hey, they were Engineering students. They were probably just analyzing the flexural characteristics of the bow, the tensile strength of the bowstring, the aerodynamics of arrows in flight [arrowdynamics?], the stresses imposed on the case by beer cans -- that kind of thing.
-------------------
They went hunting 'coons with a bow
And like, hid in the bushes, ya know?
It was on campus grounds,
And the cops on their rounds
Picked them up; now to jail they will go.

Why were these young men arrested? There is no hunting season for raccoon in my state. It can be harvested year round. I hope these two sue the state.

Dick, it had nothing to do with hunting raccoons. It always helps to actually read the article, which says they "were arrested for possessing a deadly weapon on university property." [It also says they were drunk, though that doesn't seem to be a charge.]

One question....what difference does a serial number make? Do you have to have a permit to own one?

> This could have ended a lot worse than it did.
One of these dudes could have Darwined the other one, for starters. But yeah, drunk asshats shooting off a lethal weapon in a target-rich environment (and I'm not talking about critters) is a recipe for trouble.
Also, I never knew that bows had serial numbers.

HELL THEY WERE JUST HUNTING. AS FOR BEING DRUNK.....A LOT OF OTHER HUNTERS CAN NOT PASS A BREATH TEST EITHER.

If I saw two guys like in the bushes at like 3 o'clock in the morning I'd be more worried about what was like unzipped than what was like zipped up in a case!

I was under the impression that compound bows were illegal in a lot of states. In fact, I had to buy mine in San Francisco's China Town, inside a secret basement store full of nasty weapons.
What a couple of idiots! Next time go to the nice quiet neighborhoods, don't stay on campus!

These 2 morons are a catastrophe waiting to happen.
And, to think...they are engineers!

Raccoon-hunting "hijinks"? I disagree Jim, I think these at least rise to the level of Raccoon-hunting "shenanigans" and perhaps even Raccoon-hunting "tomfoolery". I don't think these hunters with their crazy misadventures and escapades should get off so lightly in your titles!
