Teacher who looks "hot" in a bikini told to leave school
Biology teacher Tiffany Shepherd lost her job after school officials learned of her side job as a bikini mate aboard the Smokin' Em Charters fishing tours. (Job requirement: look "hot in a bikini.") She says she's just doing it to support her three young sons. (Palm Beach Post)

ZOUNDS! Talk about safety/flotation devices in the event of a man overboard. I might just jump in on purpose! ;)

I don't like the tats and the fake blonde hair but I could play motorboat in them boobs and I didn't read the article cause a pair of huge boobs drew my attention away from the words on the screen.

There were words?

I would pay attention in class!

I don't understand how a person's second job can have any effect on the first job, so long as one doesn't overlap with the other.
Also, since when are teachers above and beyond better than everyone else? She's not doing anything illegal. Hell, even the Christians would have a hard time arguing that the boat job is immoral.
In most locations, a teaching job pays a "living wage," which is proportionate around the US. Sure, LA teachers may make high 5 to low 6 figures, but that's like getting low-ish 5 figures in Iowa. If she's a single parent with 3 kids, I can see that she'd need a second job. I think the school's just lucky she wasn't a stripper.

Soo - While I'd love to defend her (she can hoist my sail anytime.) the school says they fired her because she missed 30 days of work (she says 20). I don't think I ever had a teacher miss that much school unless they got knocked up.
I think I'll have to charter that boat this weekend.

"I can make $600 in two days (fishing)," she said. "That's a week's pay for me in two days."
At that gals and pals sez it all.
Do we have a vote on the authenticity of the melons?

She doesn't need an excuse to do that job, nothing at all wrong with it.
I see, it's OK to have that much absenteeism if you're breeding...but not if you're trying to support the children you already have. Hmmmm....

Nellagain I would have to say those boobs are real. The left one looks bigger, at least to me it does but you can get a boob job and still appear to have sag. At the moment I say real but without further inspection I could be wrong.

While I don't like inked women much, I wouldn't mind taking her spearfishing for do-do sharks.

Poor lady. She was probably fired by some ugly fat chick who is jealous of her good looks OR some prudish male who is haunted by fanasies of him and her together. Either way, that ain't right.
On the other hand, before I switched to getting a degree in just English, I studied secondary education. Before they become teachers, education students are told that they will be expected to uphold a certain set of "moral" standards. I.E. (and this is an example my teacher gave my class), if a student sees your car parked at the local bar or liquor and makes a big deal about it, there could be a problem; also if a student sees you buying beer or any other alcohol, there could be a problem. This bikini episode would probably be considered one of them.
I personally see nothing wrong with the bikini job and I'm somebody who specializes in feminist literature. BUT, it's not like this lady didn't know it would be a controversial occupation. There are other part-time jobs out there that are less controversial and pay about the same.
I'm not saying is right to hold teachers to this set of moral standards but the fact is that they are and this lady should've known that.

I just skimmed the article, and the missed work didn't register much with me. That's got me to thinking. If my kid misses that much school, without a doctor authenticating the absences, my kid would fail for the year. I think it's okay that a teacher is subject to similar rules.
However, it does seem to me that the school appeared willing to overlook the absences until the second job became common knowledge.

More "he said, she said." FWIW, I think it's a combination of both. The school district might or might not have not renewed her contract after all the absences, but the bikini charter boat business made it certain that she'd lose her job. And I too don't think it's a big deal that she's got a side job prancing around in a bikini, either. The problem with losing the teaching gig is that her benefits evaporate. I doubt that the bikini boat offers health insurance, for instance.
I think her rack is real, too.

waa waa waa....around my parts in NY everyone that isn't a teacher is SO FREAKIN SICK of hearing teachers whine about how they "can barely afford to live on a teacher's salary"......while they are bringing home $50-$60k by age 30 and getting summers and every president's birthday off. Heck, certified teachers in my state make $36k to start! So, a teacher makes $31k in Fla?....no wonder the state has a rep as a dullard state. Guess this genius didn't spawn with a guy worth a lot of child support huh? boohoo. On the otehr hand, she'll probably make a lot in her lawsuit against the school.

LMAO WHAT WILL THE MORAL POLICE DO NEXT? ITS A DAMN SHAME SHE LOST HER JOB BECAUSE SHE HAD ANOTHER MEANS OF EMPLOYMENT.
Posted by: ULTRA | Apr 30, 2008 7:15:00 AM
ok, I didn't read the article. I didn't know she missed 30 days of work. That's not good. If the absentces aren't pre-approved or FMLA, that's a good reason to fire her. The prudish administrators were probably looking for a good reason to fire her and this is a good reason.

Ugh, I just took a look at the "more pictures of Tiffany"...what a skank...she needs that rack to distract you from looking at her face....pass.

I have no comments about the article, but seriously, what is the deal with the photo spread accompanying it? 13 shots of a teacher in a bikini? Pictures of fires, disasters, and other newsworthy events don't get a portfolio that large...

This woman screams of having the pity party syndrome. 'Boohoo I got shitcanned because the school district is jealous over my enflated dirty pillows! And to top that off, those assholes let some stupid teacher with a medical condition take leave when she should have been working! It's just SO unfair!!!'
Bah. Stone the worthless wench.

The paper that reported this is the Palm Beach Post so therefore the abundance of bikini photos overdog. I have had the displeasure of being exposed to this paper for the last 12 years and have yet to get anything of value out of it other that coupons. (Back me up on this G-Man). If any of my fellow readers here in this chat room ever care to experience the paper's audience, go to their website and read some of the reader responses. Our worst days here are by far better than any comments their readers have ever posted.

Insert that pic of that goofy looking nerdy guy with the caption: I definitely would not hit it. Just look at those sharp knees. She is definitely below my standards....
Sure JJ, you wouldn't hit it because we all know you've got supermodels without sharp knees at your house. Sure thing buddy.

Overdog - T&A Sells. That's why they don't have Sports Illustrated Fire Edition....

Jim - The only thing I ever used the Palm Beach Post for was to line the bottom of a cage.

"fetches drinks and sandwiches for the men on board."
I'm sure women ride the boat too for the atmosphere. I tend to eat at Hooters on occasion BUT only for the wings! *snicker*

Let's see. Not exactly great pay (for sure not a pay scale that I can expect to grow quickly). But alot of time off in the summer. Good retirement.
Possibility of dealing with particularly nasty children/teens on a daily basis. Hands tied by dumb policy. No support from parents.
Now I have to worry about just being seen buying alcohol or at a bar? And definitely not go get a drink at a tittie bar. Worry about what my LEGAL second job can be? All this when I am no where near the school?
Yeah, I want to be a teacher. F that.
And we are still wondering why all our teachers are top notch?
