Oops!: Ohio reporter gets the wrong Hillary on the line
I feel bad for this reporter: John Goodall of the Warren, OH Tribune Chronicle thought he was talking to Hillary Clinton; in fact, he was on the line with Hillary Wicai Viers of U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson's staff. "The quotes from Viers were incorrectly attributed to Clinton," says the paper. (Warren Tribune Chronicle)

I have to wonder what quotes were gathered from the mistaken reporter, given that way back when, Charlie Wilson's position was fraught with sex and drug scandals.

Hillary Rodham Clinton has a distinctive voice with that hard, grating, r-grinding Great Lakes accent. Did the other Hillary talk that way, too?

I don't think it was THAT Charlie Wilson.

But the mistake is hilarious!

I wonder if the conversation started out anything like this:
(deep breathy voice) hello, Hillary, what are you wearing (heaving breathing), oh yeah, strong women in powerful positions really turn me on....what would you do if I flashed you 91 times?....(more heavy breathing)....(Teddy Pendegrass starts playing in the background: Turn off the lights...)

40-some years ago, the 'investigative reporter' at the competing sheet got a hot story: the son of famed columnist William E. Buckley Jr. was arrested for DUI.
The 'reporter' called the famous columnist William E. Buckley Jr. in New York City, who ripped the local cops for their highhandedness and promised to sue.
Did you get that? William E. Buckley, not F.
Lord knows how anybody could have mistaken the voice of William F., but the 'reporter' did and the story ran at the top of page one.
The reporter kept his job, too.
Some reporters have tin ears, I guess.

Plus, this is Ohio. It's not like any newspaper out of my old home state is on the cutting edge of anything.
