C'mon kid. Just for the sake of the US let Obama use this slogan. Otherwise we could be stuck with Hillary. For all that is sacred keep her out of the whitehouse. Please.

why do we need to change rocks? did they mess themselves or are they not strong enough to break the windows?
but seriously, "Change Rocks"?! ok, now i've got a reason not to vote for Obama. That's beyond Bush stupid.

The first post was mine...is there a reason that my moniker is not staying registered? I have to retype my name everytime. Is anyone else having this problem? Jim?

And I'm supposed to give a flying shit because?

Man. I wonder how long the kid took coming up with that one. no way anyone would ever combine those words.

I always thought the lyrics said "strange cocks". Hmm, learn something new everyday.

So I can go out and patent the words F*CK YOU! and no one can use them again legally? This is ridiculous. I'm sure the bitching by this kid will be worth its weight in gold because until now...pretty much no one was aware of his business.

Mine's vanishing too, Yucca. Yikes! It's a conspiracy.

for way longer than it should have taken me to understand that this was a *slogan* I was trying to figure out why the Barack Obama was trying to steal a fizzy candy that (at least on the Simpson's) explodes when you shake a can of soda and combine the two. I need to leave work. right now. And go have a beer or three.

I thought "Change" was being used as a verb and "Rocks" as a noun. Which, the more I think about, makes a certain amount of sense when dealing with politicians and elections.

LOL @ Nell.
If there's ever a "OS&RR posters I wouldn't mind being deserted on an island with" thread, Nell and Dr. Mary Pat are sure bets. I'd never stop snickering.

Yucca I was referring to the news story. BTW, it never remembers my personal info. I always have to type it in. Having a story about the site not remembering your login info is more freaking news worthy than this stupid bullshit.
Posted by: The Asshole Guy | Jan 9, 2008 3:26:32 PM
LOL...that's what I thought.
Posted by: | Jan 9, 2008 3:29:34 PM
CRAP...(that was me)

He will lose if he sues, because nobody is going to confuse "Change Rocks!" for his dying jewelry concern with "Change Rocks!" for Obama's camapaign.
It's good to see he wants to work with Obama's campaign.

I always, without exception, have to fill in all the boxes to post.
That's why I don't post more often. It's always been like that.

I have discovered that if I hit the "remember personal info" box my name and address will pop up. I never had to do this before.
Posted by: Yucca | Jan 9, 2008 4:47:06 PM
Try clicking the "Remember personal info?" box...
Posted by: Travman | Jan 9, 2008 4:47:10 PM
Doesn't work for me at all to do so. I've tried at home and work.

If I copyright each and every individual word in the English language, does that mean I own it?
There is fair use, and to use a phrase even if copyrighted in it's original noncommercial meaning is fair use.

My personal info has been wonky of late... until today, though, it was always there, as long as I had the "remember personal info" box checked, and it never unchecked itself.
As for the story, how in the *heck* can someone trademark such a generic phrase? I can see registering it as a business name and no one within a certain area being able to use it thus, but a two-bit jewelry biz against a national political campaign? PUH-LEEEEEEESE, people.

You know, I am probably going to get flamed for this, but it actually looks a little cool.

Here's his website. I went to another site that actually sold them and they had the rings for $37.50 and it comes with 3 stones.. additional stones are $8.50 each and there are like 8 of them. The stones "twist" off.
It's definitely a mini biz, but the idea is sort of valid if his ring is of decent quality. Not too bad of an idea. I wonder what my wife would think. :)
Ok, I'm done babbling now. Everyone have a great night/morning!

Umm people, seriously, he trademarked the name Change Rocks for JEWELRY. That trademark only stops Obama from marketing Jewelry with that name or possibly phrase.
People will note that there are countless if not tens of thousands of products with the same names.
Hershey's Chocolate and Hershey's Ice Cream for instance.
The phrase is NOT Copyrighted and can never BE copyrighted. This case is over trademark which is different.
the kid wanted publicity and got it, the kid is not serious about the
