Man tries the old girlfriend-is-pregnant excuse on cop
A man who yelled out the window to a police officer he was rushing his pregnant girlfriend to the hospital because she was going into labor was arrested after the cop followed the couple to the hospital and learned the car was stolen. Also, the woman wasn't pregnant. (Fosters.com)

There was a story I think in the UK where a man was taking his wife to the hospital because she was in labor. A cop pulled him over and insisted on writing him a ticket before letting him go. Not only that, but he searched the car for drugs and patted him down.

"Curtin said the woman was later apprehended, but he wouldn't comment on that portion of the incident, referring all inquiries to Wells police, who could not be reached."
Doesn't the Wells police department have a phone?

Maybe Stephen King will write a novel about it.

Yes, this was such a good idea, since it always works in the movies, and we all know that the movies are just like real life.
Stupid should be more painful than it is.

I actually had a friend who was driving his wife to the hospital when she was in labor and got pulled over for speeding. The cop did not believe that the wife was in labor and proceeded to take his own sweet time in giving him a speeding ticket. His wife nearly gave birth in the hospital parking lot (3rd child).
He went to court to fight the ticket, which was dropped. Apparently the judge had more sense than the cop!

"Stupid should be more painful than it is."
Stupid should be fatal, as far as I'm concerned.

The Darwin awards handle that.
