Panhandler says KFC manager tossed boiling water at him

The 50-year-old homeless man has sued. He alleges that KFC Manager Kimberly Mallory tossed a pail of boiling water on him as he crouched at a side door asking people for money. The guy's asking for at least $25,000. (Detroit Free Press | Detroit News)

I would've laughed at this. The homeless are scum and I hate when restaurants don't deal with them. I just avoid those establishments altogether.

...But will settle out of court for an extra large bucket of extra crispy. With biscuits.

Fetchez la vache!

See how,to gain more sympathy for the bum, mention is made of the fact that he served with the U.S.Navy ?
So now it becomes ...KFC manager throws boiling water on homeless veteran ?!
I'm sure if they could've dug up anything on the manager they would have thrown it in ...
It is a good illustration of how "news" is "reported" .

Hey you worthless bum, instead of panhandling, get a job at one of my fine poultry processing facilities
KFC-where we do chickens (and homeless vets) right!

Wasn't there some corner for this guy to panhandle?
There was a new story on one of the local channels out of Spokane,WA that documented one panhandlers day. After his territorial pissing the guy ended up pulling $250.00 in 6 hours. He even had work clothes that he would change out of at the end of his busy work day. I never give money to those dickwads.

that manager should be put in jail. i clearly ordered my bum regular, not extra crispy.

ever had a burn?
ever been burned by boiling water?
ever had boiling water come at you from out of the blue?
Scalding someone for any reason is criminal!!!!!
it's not about homelessness, you don't pour boiling water on any living thing unless you enjoy other people's pain
this was sick

Somewhere there must be a Catholic program to remove a nuisance panhandler to another parish.

Posted by: thomas | Nov 29, 2007 3:37:46 PM

I call bullshit. 25k is NOTHING for this kind of thing.

Could it be that the restaurant was in the habit of pouring out water from steam tables in a particular spot, and someone placed himself where he knew it might happen?

It just doesn't add up. It's much easier to tell a panhandler to get off the property or the police will be called than it is to willingly disfigure someone with scalding water.

And as far as those interstate panhandlers go--yeah, I know of some fakes. One is my mom's former neighbor's uncle. He's not needy at all, but he stands beside an interstate exit ramp with a sign.

For anyone in Indianapolis, it's the exit ramp off 65 South on to Raymond Street at Shelby Street. He has more money than you probably ever will.

not really related but a funny drunk bum story that happened to me and my friends on BART last night.

this bum came up to me and my friends and told us to stop talking or he would stab us. Apparently he thought we were chargers fans.

I asked him to stay standing right where he was, this confused him so he complied.

when the doors opened moments later at a stop i tackled him out of the train. his shoe landed like 5 feet away.

He tried to crawl back and i planted a boot firmly in his face and pushed, just like the santa in christmas story. Transit employees came to check out the disturbance. They guy was screaming "He pushed me, arrest him" and me and my friends simply pointed out the guy said he was going to stab us.

Everyone in the train started laughing at him as they dragged him away.

Why didn't she just ask him to move or call the police instead of resorting to violence. I realize people don't want to come eye to eye with a homeless person, to much reality I guess.

By named sue- you are either a big loser or big liar- you decide.

No one laughed at healthy people beating up a mentally ill homeless person. Least of all no one reading this.

5 months went by? Then Bernstein of Farmington Hills (a nice suburb)(should I even comment on the name Bernstein?) decides to bring this public. Maybe it is just me, but is it possible that Bernstein is in it for the money?

That covers it. People on this site that are somewhat aware will understand EXACTLY what I mean by even mentioning the name Bernstein.

On the other hand, the BLUNTFACTS might cause Jim to delete this post. So be it.

Everybody needs a little KFC.......

anon:

1. it's boynamedsue
2.big loser, maybe, liar.. no.
3 Bums do not have to be mentally ill, nor homeless. the fact you assume this show your own prejudice.
4. If a fucker gets in your face and threatens to stab you. you can do what you want. I ignored him yelling at me till he got in my face. not every bum is a feeble old man. this was just a filthy drunken fucker looking to cause trouble.
5. people tend to laugh when a guy thats been getting in their face with threats gets whats coming.
6. I don't know if anyone reading this was actually there... and that comment makes no goddamn sense.

i have no problems using force to remove a bum from your front porch. that is the only thing that works. the cops wont remove them. but throwing hot water on him seems to be over the line. she just as easily could have used ice cold water to get her point across.

Posted by: buddy | Nov 29, 2007 9:54:30 PM

Hahahah

Boynamedsue, Oh you did this and you did that, Give me a fucking break, so now anybody drunk gets a legal ass kicking from you, oh and who knows could besome useless homeless asshole right, Oh and lets just get the law right for a minute, wheather or not said drunk threatened your life, once you tackled hime off the train and kicked him in the face..might I add your so manly...Your sorry ass would of went downtown along with him, this is just common sense now, remember what OJ claimed he didn't do, an American law is just not gonna tolerate you either with your claiming... So not only are you a LOSER but yes your also a Fucking LIAR.

Oh yeah now matter how someone lives their life should be absolutely none of anyones elses business, and attempting to scald them permanently is just plain wrong.

P.S. Swarthy Troll, the Restaurants you so graciously decide not to frequent because of the Homeless, are more the happier not to have to deal with your Beautiful personality.

This is why I wished we still lived in the Old West. The manager asks the bum to move, he refuses, and then the manager guns him down. End of story and one less worthless homeless bum to deal with.

Posted by: Dick Tater | Nov 30, 2007 4:26:08 AM

Can't really go around scalding people with boiling water, if that's what happened. But it is rough for a business to have a panhandler permanently stationed outside their door. It really does create a nuissance for customers and drives away business - which can translate to a significant amount of lost revenue (which adds up if the bum decides to make the place a daily hangout). If I have to choose between two near identical places, only one of the has a bum standing outside 'holding the door' for me and demanding money, which am I going to go to?

BNS - I agree, someone threatens you with a knife, all bets are off.

Posted by: elchampino | Nov 30, 2007 4:33:45 AM

BNS said they were threatened with stabbing. He never said he saw the knife. Did you see the knife, boy?

Posted by: thomas | Nov 30, 2007 5:38:22 AM

Sorry but if threatened with anything, I'm going to hit first and ask questions later. Common sense prevails, I'll worry about what the law says later.

Bums are mostly a sorry bunch and I have no patience with them. Like a stray dog, if you fee it, it will come back.

Posted by: Yall | Nov 30, 2007 6:37:25 AM

BNS, I chuckled. Some bum tried to punch my friend for not giving him money. My friend kicked his ass. Said bum will likely not resort to violence in the future. Everyone wins, especially if the next person that bum tried to assault shot his dumb ass.

Posted by: sometimesilie | Nov 30, 2007 6:37:47 AM

That should have read "feed".

Posted by: Yall | Nov 30, 2007 6:38:40 AM

The reporter probably mentioned the guy's Navy service because there have been so many stories about homeless veterans lately (196,000 last year).

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/08/us/08vets.html

You can't throw boiling water on someone because you feel annoyed. The person who did that should serve prison time the same way that any violent criminal should.
