"Forgiving" Baptist church lets sex offender preach again
The guy was unapologetic about his crimes -- he had been messing around with girls 15 to 17 -- when he talked to a reporter last week, saying his first marriage had been troubled and he'd had "urges." (Chicago Sun-Times)

Ok...so having sex with 15-17 year old girls is a forgivable offense but remarrying after a divorce is not? This church is messed up.

Here we go again. Mr Hannah had "urges". Sorry Mr. Hannah, but you could have obeyed the law and only had relations with adults (females over 18), even though a 30 something man (at the time of the crimes) with an 18 year old teenager is still strange. But at least it wouldn't have been a crime.
Plus, I get the impression that the underage girls in this case were willing, perhaps even eager. Regardless, you still have to walk away. Otherwise, you are a predator. I have a feeling what Farmer Bob will say.

"In our church, we believe in forgiveness,"
Well, in MY church, I believe in turning in sex offenders to the police and hoping they get prosecuted and spend some quality time in prison.

"But Doc, she was fifteen years old, going on thirty-five, Doc, and, uh, she told me she was eighteen and she was, uh, very willing, you know what I mean...I practically had to take to sewin' my pants shut. But, uh between you and me, uh, she might have been fifteen, but when you get that little red beaver right up there in front of ya, I don't think it's crazy at all now and I don't think you do either...No man alive could resist that, and that's why I got into jail to begin with."

In Farmer Bob's church we believe in sterilization. Sterilize him.

>>I honestly believe that had I been a college pastor, I'd slept with college girls," he said. "But I was a youth pastor. It was less about age and more about who I spent all my time with."<<
If he was a veterinarian... Oh, never mind.

The sheep would be scared. Especially the lambs.

I don't get it--the teenage bumping guy also had a new wife on the handle:
"Hannah was paroled in 2001 and joined the First Baptist Church of Romeoville, where his new wife was a member"

Arrest the sheep for harboring a kiddie-diddlin' shepherd.

Whoa--I didn't even think about that analogy. Works perfectly.

They believe in forgiveness but condemn the 2nd pastor for being married more than once.
ARE YOU FU*KING KIDDING ME??!!!

Sadly I was forced to go to a Southern Baptist chuch as a child and they seem to have all the freaking asshats and nutbags.
Child molesters should just be shot after they are convicted.

Oxhead,
Great quote from "one flew over the cockoos nest" - You are a sponge. I mean that in a good way.

Don't go praising my powers of recall too much. I have bookmarked all the great screenplays.

Romeoville--that's appropriate.

In the U.S.A. is it crime to have the sexy time with 15 and 17 year old woman? Because the women are too old? I do not get.

Argh...THis shit sickens me. Castrate the heathen. He has sinned against his own GOD, and against us as humans.

Um, the Christians in Jesus' time often married as young as 12, and certainly had sexual relations at that time. I didn't realize the Christian God kept abreast of local laws.

Maybe he should just be re-assigned to The First Baptist Bar & Grille. (Anyone know this song?

Why do we, as a nation, continue to take this kind of crap from people just because they call themselves Christians?

my last church had two members with a sexual criminal history, and yet i was refused the grace of re-marrying within my own congregation. it didn't matter that i fought divorce and lost to the court. i quit that church with some bitterness, knowing that i would be better received had i been a convicted molester. is this why there are so many houses of god to choose from?
