Cat photos + poor spelling = absolute hilarity!
That's what some people think. Apparently there's a practice called Caturday, in which cat lovers posted photos of their felines with funny, misspelled captions on Saturdays. (Houston Chronicle)

Lets just dumb down how we spell and type some more. I hate texting with a passion so stuff such as this I find just as annoying.
How about some kitties in a jar? These Bonsai Kitten's are so much more fun.

And in China, Caturday is when cats are on special at the local restaurants

Caturday is when the cat dissection is due!

I used to be friends with a couple who had three cats, they'd let the cats walk all over the kitchen counters while dinner was being fixed for us all. These cats shedded like crazy too.
It was absolutely disgusting to me, I'd secretly go over my food with fine tooth comb before putting it in my mouth.
I'd spot little hair balls on the kitchen counter while dinner was being prepared, just disgusting.

Boy, are you guys late to the party. http://icanhascheezburger.com/ is the pinnacle of the LOLcats phenomenon, but this meme has been circulating for months.

Oh come on you guys....quit kitten around!

LOLcats are getting popular with the masses, sure. But if you hit the forums on sites like 4chan or Something Awful, you'll see that while LOLcats are still around, they've moved on to other "memes" -- though I still object to the use of the word "meme" as a way to describe "internet fads." Most of them just revolve around someone saying or doing something stupid and the rest of the people turning it into a huge inside joke.
Internet subculture... gotta love it.

I love Caturdays! That's the best day of the week!
I'm sorry, but sometimes you just have to laugh. Or maybe I'm just easily amused. Prob'ly.

My kids and I are rather punny people (yes, we keep it to ourselves, no need to irritate the masses) and we laugh ourselves silly over lolcats. Doesn't matter if we've seen them a hundred times, either. I swear, Monorail Cat just tears me up!

I'm with TAG all the way on texting. I only text with my darling photographer friend back East, but I spell everything out. Takes me forever to send a message.
vksjk, that is beyond disgusting-that's one of the main reasons I've resisted getting another cat. I just can't STAND the idea of cat hair all over everything I own again and taking twice as long to get ready for work because I had to go everything with a lint brush. I like being pet-hair free!

TAG and pnwgal, count me in on the anti-texting, too. I frigging HATE it. If you need to reach me, just effing CALL ME!

I love LOLcats. It's sick, but I do.

pnwgal,
It was incredibly digusting. I remember one time glancing at the wine bottle on the table and seeing a bunch of cat hair stuck to the neck of the open bottle! See, they'd pet the cats constantly as they were fixing dinnner and eating dinner. So after petting the cat then reaching for the neck of the wine bottle a bunch of cat hair sorta clad onto the bottle.
It turns my stomach thinking about it.

vksjk, that'd be enough to turn me off food for a very long time. I bet you found every excuse in the book you could not to eat there very often!

i just couldn't find the funny in this. and, i love the "cute kitties" websites. but, i'm too much of a grammar/spelling snob to "appreciate" intentional misspellings.
and, i'm joining the "i hate texting" club. and, i especially hate it when people who text all the time post on a discussion forum. (but, i really love to see no one responding to their rebus puzzles! ;) )

and, for the record, we have two cats. they're not allowed on the counters, and we don't give them any kind of attention while we're eating. i don't want cat hair in my food, and i don't want them thinking that my food is theirs.

This spelling form is reminiscent of short stores called "Archy and Mehitabel," in which Archy the Cockroach used a newsman's manual typewriter every night to type laboriously written messages by jumping from key to key. He had no way to use the shift key for capitalization, and he spelled phonetically. Mehitabel was a cat, and most of his writings concerned her.

People posting pictures of their cats = pathetic. I bet everyone who does this is some lonely, bitter, crazy, man-hating women whose apartment smells like cat piss and cat shit. Not to mention I'm sure these chicks anthropomorphize their cats to no end.

LOLcats is a mixed bag. One out of every twenty or so is genius. The rest are just putting the obvious mispelled text on the picture of a cat.

I love the pictures, but the misspelling reminds me of women think it's attractive to be juvenile. Baby talk is number 4 on my list of Top 10 things that make my skin crawl. It is positioned below people who let their dogs kiss them on the lips, but above scab pickers.

although i have to mention, if you didn't get the lolcats thing, you probably won't get the lolcode thing.
probably won't get this either:
