Wisconsin woman calls 911 looking for a nanny
"I need a nanny," the woman on the phone says. "Yeah, this is a nanny 911." In disbelief, the dispatcher informs the caller that isn’t what 911 is for. After a brief exchange, the woman says "OK" and hangs up. (You can listen the call; the link is to the right of the story -- which, yes, is from Wisconsin.) (Fond du Lac Reporter | NANNY 911 site)

I'm beginning to think the people in Fond du Lac are especially "special" - this is the third story Jim's posted about these folks.
I lost my shirt in Reno last month-maybe I should call Reno 911 to complain about it....

Dick C's a bit of an "idoit" himself...

She needs to call IQ 911 for a brain transplant.

Nanny911? Reno911? IQ911? Be very careful friends. We're teetering on the edge of a new Jeff Foxworthy routine here and I don't think any of us really want that, do we?

I didn't know Florida extended so far north.
In this case, I'd go with Ron White's observation - You Can't Fix Stupid.

You really, really hate the midwest, huh?
Posted by: curt | May 10, 2007 2:10:26 PM
FTA: "A Dodge County woman — apparently under the influence of a TV show — called 911 this week because she needed a baby sitter."
ummmm, i'm thinking she was "under the influence" of something other than a tv show.

only the upper midwest.:) :P Since Jim admitted it was another Wis. story, i elected not to read it. and i can't play the audio until i reinstal my media player, so that's no good. so i'll just go with Jim's synopsis. STUPID, STUPID WOMAN! or extremely bored!
(i think living in the colder states has a tendency to make people bored--causes them to do stupid things due to cabin fever....yeah, that's it.)

It's like having your own golem lcb!

It's not the cold or the cabin fever that makes us crazy up here.
It's the moose.
They're always there... always watching...
And there's no good way to refer to them in plural.

lots of brain freezing up there, huh??
Posted by: b | May 11, 2007 7:49:29 AM
I always say "meese". I mean, it works for goose and geese, so why not? And anyway, it's so silly-sounding!

A moose once bit my sister

WZ, I have this visual of moose peeping in your window with binoculars...or seeing their faces when you open up your blinds in the morning.
Never mind moose are one of the ugliest animals on the earth...

They are - I find them kind of cute that way, all gangly and unfortunate looking, much like me in my teenage years. :P
We lived in the middle of Duluth once, right down town, and woke up to a moose wandering down the alley behind our house.
He'd lost his binoculars though.

i'm a little off my usual time. WZ: that is so funny!
lost his binoculars:D :p****(that's me spitting, it was so funny!)

troschne,
my FAVorite tv show, of all time! :D

The mom had triplets and needed a baby sitter. She was probably very tired. I know how tired one can make you, let alone 3!

princessalex--I loved that show, too. I met Barry Corbin (who played Maurice) once--he was a very nice man. I have his autograph someplace...
