TV station's truck falls through ice while crew preps for ice-safety segment
The driver of the CBS affiliate's truck told police that she thought she was still on the road when the ice gave way and the van went down into 5 feet of water and muck. Damage could be as high as $250,000. (Today's TMJ | Journal Sentinel)

'DOH!'
Hey lady! NBC and ABC called...they said to tell you they don't have any job openings!
They should dub the van 'Titanic'.
Chief Engineer Don Dyer was quoted as saying, "Not even God Himself could sink this remote broadcast van!"
There was a Fox van a few miles away but it couldn't get there in time.
Look! Off the starboard fender well...is that Leonardo DiCaprio?

So many ridiculous puff 'news' pieces trying to pass as genuine news, this is probably some sort of karmic payback.

Gotta love pure irony at its best.

"The driver, Susan Wronsky, 27, told police that she thought she was still on the road"
Hmm. I wonder if she was on a cell phone at the time? And I am disappointed in that there is no mention if she was a "good driver".

Later, the driver stated that she knew the ice would break, but she was a big fan of irony.

From the Journal: "She passed the pier and boat launch off Durham Drive and traveled 150 yards on the channel."
This one assumes that if you are reporting in slightly unfamiliar territory, you'd get advice from someone who knows, or perhaps a use a map.
Or perhaps I just expect too much of myself and others.

Good. I think we can safely assume that everyone is tired of these morons passing of puff pieces as Public Service Anonncements. While living in West Palm Beach few years back during hurricane season a TV crew was in a supermarket and we over heard them say "lets get footage of panic buying". I was tempted to drop my pants and run in front of the camera but I was too well known in my area. However myself and an elderly shopper managed to foul up 3 of their takes by standing in the background and flipping them the bird.....Anyway I'm sure this story made their 6, 11 and 7 broadcasts and was titled "Ice! the Cold Killer!"
