Now THAT'S funny! I love Wisconsin. I think I want to move there.

"I thought I'd give it a shot," Petri said. That's what got you into trouble in the first place!

At least it wasn't Florida...this time. :sigh:

Petri said he should not have trusted his own "glib certitude"...

I question mine all the time...

I want to know what kind of funky equation he used to calculate that he was sober.

My husband has a friend in Green Bay, WI. She tells him it's so monumentally boring there, there's nothing else to do but drink.

This doesn't surprise me.

The laws of irony are strictly enforced. So are Murphy's laws. You'd think a lawyer would know that.

I thought it was some unique defense strategy.

In answer to Swangirl's question, the formula typically used for such calculations (yes, among other subjects I've taught, Alcohol Awareness was one) probably stems from the theory that the 'average' (yeah, I know, what's average?) 150# male or 120# female will metabolize 16oz of beer, 5oz of wine, or 1oz of distilled spirits in one hour's time. Food consumption, exercise, and other variables notwithstanding, of course.

Bottom line, though, has already been written by Soo. Clearly Mr. Murphy was present that night.

I have a formula, and I've seen it in action as a DD.

Sober know-it-all/jerk + alcohol = thinks he's still sober

Sober nice personality + alcohol = wants a ride home, if it's not too much trouble, oh and do you you have a barf bag, just in case, 'cause I love you and I don't wanna mess up your car?

I've known a few people who think they know everything who've ended up with their very own DUI. The guys I offer to drive to/from are generally the second type, and know when they've crossed the line.

Lawyers are people too! Ask their mommas!
