Hollywood boutique sues over lack of mentions in Us Weekly

Kitson, a clothing store favored by Paris Hilton and other young celebs, says in a lawsuit that Us Weekly magazine is intentionally omitting any mention of the store because of a nasty legal feud. The store claims the lack of publicity is costing it $10,000 a week in sales. (Los Angeles Times)

That's just ridiculous. If the magazine doesn't see fit to mention the store freely, then tough luck to the store.

Hey! Wait a minute. US Weekly has been snubbing my bait shop. Perhaps we can make it a class action lawsuit. I know that I could get Terry Don interested. His snowcone & meat on a stick place has yet to be profiled in US Weekly. Now the Clarksville Register did a story on him but was only an account of all them coeds getting sick and all. Turns out it wasn't Terry Don's meat that was making the girls sick but rather Donna Rae's Chili Pot. She had gone on vacation and her nephew done tainted up a whole batch of chili. Pastor and his wife was the ones that got sick and they ain't never set foot in Terry Don's. It didn't take no dummy to figure that one out. A whole bunch of Matlocks come swooping down looking for some easy money but Terry Don's wife is a lady lawyer and she done sewn up all the complaints. Made enough money to enclose Terry Don's eating parlor. Now you don't have as many flys and mosquitos buzzin' you when you eat. I gotta go open the shop now. Been real nice talking with you. Chester

us weekly is a piece of trash...think it is 3.49 a week which is a rip off. you can buy trash mags for 1.99 or just go online!

oh and the store suing is stupid

I think what they are trying to refer to are called Advertisements. Normal people have to purchase them, but I guess the establishments that celebrities frequent want stuff for free too.

Paris Hilton never mentions me...I'm suing!

I love the rich and snotty, and the stores that like to cater to them. Makes me feel so good about being a midwestern nobody.

I read that, and I'm thinking, just cry me a river already. What a bunch of plonks.

Rusty,

Be glad she didn't mention you. If she did, that would mean that you're on her list of people that she passed her yeast infection to.

Actually, I'd rather have a list of where the 'celebrities' don't shop. That way I know the clothes are less overpriced.

Hey, way to go, Kitson, I'd say the LA Times is a bit of a step up from Us Weekly. They managed to get one of the largest papers in the US to print that Kitson is ...

"one of Hollywood's most celebrity-soaked boutiques"
"favored by young celebs such as ..."
etc etc etc

The case itself is immaterial at this point, Kitson's probably already won.

Okay, so Kitson is suing them, asking them not to "interfere with their business" and now they want more mentions in the magazine? It looks like UsWeekly is trying not to interfere with their business. If someone sued my magazine, I wouldn't give them free mentions in it anymore, either.
